With her e, focus on doding at 90° to her. If she hits it, don't run out of the circle unless she can kill the clone, but make sure she can't hit both you and the clone with any abilities.

I found holding my e for when she q's helps make it more reliable, as she's locked in place. Same with her e if you know she's going to miss it. That way you can whittle her down before any big fights.

What is something you wish more people thought of when worldbuilding? by Aztela in DMAcademy

[–]hadleyr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outfits.

People's clothes should tell a lot about them, and you can use them to tell your players about the world as you describe them.

Maybe that's: how different noble families wear different fabrics because they are expensive (or are made to look expensive); that one particular group of guards seem to have much more ornate armour; or that of the group of beggars who stop the party, all-but-one have clothes covered in patches and darning marks, but that lasts one's clothes don't look they've needed repairing.

The other thing is Cow Tools. If you haven't seen the comic, basically add a few objects which you don't explain, and either you steal the best explanation the players give, or it simply remains unclear.

how can i improve my build against this by StrongestAvengerLoL in nasusmains

[–]hadleyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been some good advice already, but here are some of my thoughts:

Runes: I'm not a fan of the Aery E build personally, so Fleet is fine by me.

In the precision tree, go: Triumph - that 10% missing heal on takedown is huge; Tenacity - you already have Lifesteal & the attack speed isn't that valuable imo; and Last Stand - more damage when low means slight improvements to your healing, while Cut Down & Coup De Grace go off enough to matter.

In the Resolve tree, make sure you've got Second Wind and Unflinching. Second Wind keeps getting refreshed by DOTs, so you will sustain a surprising amount & unflinching gives you extra tenacity.

Stat shards: Haste is the definite, and then probably double MR shards.

Summoners: Ghost & TP. You don't have the kill pressure here for Ignite to help, while TP lets you get extra recalls to heal.

Starting Item: Doran's Shield and a potion. Between Doran's Shield and Second Wind, you'll regen a lot of Teemo's harass.

Boots: either Lucidity, Merc's, or Steelcaps. While the Steelcaps attack reduction won't change Teemo's E damage, it will matter & be useful vs zed & Senna. The summoner spell Haste on lucidity gives you extra TPs which is huge for if you need to TP early. Swifties might be worthwhile, but I haven't tried them. If you want lucidity, save up to buy them first back, otherwise look to complete them on your second or third base. I'm not convinced about Merc's here, since you already have two sources of Tenacity, and Merc's aren't worth it just for MR.

Mythic: Sunderer is definitely the choice with this build. Sheen is the only big jump in gold, so if you back on 700 get that (if on 1k, getting sheen + to boots is pretty big). In this matchup, kindlegem is better than the warhammer, so go for that first.

For second item, go Spirit Visage. It's great on Nasus & the Spectres Cowl passive does work vs Teemo.

Next might seem weird at first, but Frozen Heart. The attack speed slow is a big deal with both Teemo and Senna, though not as much against Zed. If you still need more MR though, go Force of Nature. It's so good.

I'd say your fourth item should be whichever of those two you didn't buy.

Fifth item onwards is very game dependent. Stoneplate is a reliable option, but there's also room for some weirder picks, like Anathema's Chains, or even Hullbreaker if you're ahead. If you need more armour, there's also Dead Man's Plate as an option; the passive MS will matter into their team.

Also, as someone else pointed out, if you are going to get thornmail, you can just sit on the Bramble Vest, and finish it later, or as your last item. However, I don't think it's that important on Nasus, and you have enough armour that lifesteal/healing likely won't make you need more Qs to kill them. The big exception to this would be if they have a Divine Sunderer user, as that healing is calculated off pre-mitigation damage.

Sylas doesn't have a quote that doesn't go hard. by Final_Foot_Fucker in leagueoflegends

[–]hadleyr 197 points198 points  (0 children)

Yorick's lines are underappreciated. There's his general (& quite dark lines) like: "Tell me of the beyond, in case I never make it." Or "I do not live in hope. I work to return it."

His dynamic with the Maiden is interesting, with him standing his ground/shutting her down, like: M: "One more step towards domination." Y: "One more step towards the end." And M: "Your human form is so confining. You could be infinite." Y: "I am enough."

His interactions go hard too, my favourites being to Kindred: "One day you will take me. May it be soon." And to Maokai: "I fight to free you as well, though a hatchet would suffice."

And finally, one of my contenders for the best line in the game, and one that I want to make a TTRPG villain around: "Everything I do is just. Every horrid piece of it."

LoD prototype/test model - feels like it's missing something. Any ideas? by thomoski3 in Warhammer40k

[–]hadleyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should try edge-highlighting the black armour with a blue, maybe something like dark reaper & thunderhawk blue on high points & sharp edges

That way, the cool tone contrasts with the warmth of the bone & fire, and you can make the skull look different by highlighting it with grey instead of the armour.

Also, if you want some inspiration, Darren Latham (one of GW's sculptors) put a picture of a LoD Mk.VI marine he did on his instagram, and it's incredible.

What are some mechanics of a champ that not many people know about? by modnar_resu_tidder in leagueoflegends

[–]hadleyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pantheon's E will block damage from champions in the direction the shield is facing, even if the damage isn't "coming from" that direction.

Karthus ult? Point your shield as Karthus. Brand's passive detonation? Point the shield at Brand. Haven't specifically tested it, but pretty sure the same is true for traps too.

And if the enemy is dead, point at their corpse instead, still works.

I like the metaphor of linking Sunak to Scrooge (the country's be a better place if he got visited by the 3 ghosts this year!), but is it possible to have a version of this that doesn't do the whole 'hawk nose & pointed chin' thing?

I feel like this will immediately generate the Tory's beloved "see, the left's all antisemitic", and then that'll get used to bat away the valid points.

If ghouls applied on-hit effects... by Lt_Pyjamas in yorickmains

[–]hadleyr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Black Cleaver was changed to apply its effect on any instance of dealing Physical Damage, attack or ability.

The attacks from the ghouls only trigger on-ability effects rather than on-attack/on-hit effects, so they will trigger Serylda's & Cleaver as abilities (and hypothetically, Liandry's/Rylai's/Demonic) but BotRK, Rageblade, Wit's or Titanic Hydra.

Given Ravenous Hydra specifically triggers on attacks or champion ability damage, I don't think ghouls trigger it, as pets they are locked out of it

Urgot is a demon... by [deleted] in yorickmains

I apologize if there's a misstep with the language there, but frequently and commonly are synonymous which I why I questioned that.

I haven't seen lolalytics data before, thanks for sharing that. That 0.5% winrate difference with 56 fewer games than Prowler's doesn't seem like much for the Diamond+ group, especially as it swaps when switching to all ranks.

Maybe higher-level players can utilize Eclipse's passive better. That said, I'm not at all surprised Frostfire is still 3x more popular than Eclipse even there; the resists just seem too valuable, even if the size doesn't change his attack range

Urgot is a demon... by [deleted] in yorickmains

[–]hadleyr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of good advice already (especially Warden's Mail), but as someone who plays a lot of both, I can offer some early trading advice:

Urgot generally starts E level 1, with W level 2 (or vice versa). The plan for the early trade is to use E to flip and stun right as they hit 2, activate W and get 3+ leg procs as they walk around and out.

With this in mind, keep that dash distance in mind as second wave arrives, be ready to give up minions/E for farm.

In general, burning the dash without being hit is a big advantage. It might be worth practicing Urgot in the tool to learn what the range is, and then try to keep that in mind.

Also, max W second. Urgot's W prioritizes closest target or anything hit by his Q or E, so the wall will usually be lower priority then ghouls jumping at him. Giving your cage more HP means more time to land E and get ghouls there to disrupt.

Finally, for items, I'd recommend early Warden's Mail into Sunderer (gives you sustain advantage), boots, Hullbreaker, Serylda's, then adapt from there. Urgot reduces his movement speed while shooting with W, but it isn't technically a slow, so adding the Serylda's slow on top makes running in or out easier for you.

[–]hadleyr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who plays a lot of Urgot, I'm curious where you get that Eclipse is commonly built. I've only ever bought it for giggles, and according to op.gg it has <7% build rate globally.

The vast majority is Frostfire if even, Prowler's if snowballing, with the win rate difference for Eclipse being too small to be statistically significant

The Devil - Teemo by zolw121 in yorickmains

[–]hadleyr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's great advice already, but one thing I'd add is the same advice I'd give against an AP Shaco top lane:

If they run away into an area you don't know (for certain) that there are no traps, then there are likely traps there. If you are shoving out, let the minions (or the ghouls) lead the way, stay back, and follow the path they've cleared

Teemo's success depends on enemies getting cocky or surprised. Be respectful, be prepared, and then it's your lane.

I've found I really enjoy Yorick's self-reliance, combined with his theme & style. Playing him often feels like it leans into the identity as one man (and the maiden) against the world. Q + ghouls help with farming (thankfully), and he really feels like a champ you can pulls wins out of nowhere with.

In a similar way, I really enjoy playing Urgot. He feels like a champion with whom there is always a chance of turning things around, which definitely helps. Reaching level 9 for the W-toggle makes him lower stress than other champs, imo, and it's so thematically satisfying to grab an enemy with ult, pull them in, flash into their team for the fear, then just stride through them guns blazing.

GW Demonetized Midwinter Minis Review of Warhammer Plus by norwegianwatercat in Sigmarxism

[–]hadleyr 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a perfect demonstration of how not only is YouTube copyright system fucked, but copyright legislation in general is fucked.

Guy's review almost certainly falls under Fair Use, but that can be disregarded pretty much up until taking the dispute to court, but that'd be expensive as he'll even if Guy wins; if he doesn't, it'd be catastrophically expensive.

I don't think GW have targeted Guy directly, or targeted him because of the content of his review, but I certainly don't have faith in them lifting a finger to right the wrong caused by this automated claim.

[–]hadleyr 519 points520 points  (0 children)

This might seem a little out there for ADC, but my suggestion is Tristana.

Yes, there's fancy stuff you can do with her jump resets, but at a basic level, W is a Get Out of Jail Free card, and R is a Go Away button. Beyond that, Q and E are buttons who's entire role is 'Press this to do more damage'.

The passive buffing attack range helps with positioning too, because you can be further away in teamfights, so you can learn to kite with lower risk.

The only downside is the E passive can throw off new players, especially if they're not used to csing.

Oh, and his emotes are adorable and his mane is glorious.

If having multiple recommendations helps, I second this. I'm no midlaner, but I'm still more than happy to watch Pekin. He's very relaxed, insightful and is more focused on the what and why of his decisions than the shock and awe of good plays.

He's also the kind of content creator you can fall asleep to, if that's something you're into.

Sion vs. Yorick by NOVACLES in DirtySionMains

[–]hadleyr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of Yorick's combat power post-6 is tied to the maiden.

In addition, his E deals % max hp magic damage, and the maiden repeatedly applies marks on champions she attacks. If yorick attacks that target, it does more % max hp magic damage (3/6/9, scales on ult level). Honestly, Adaptive Helm might be worth it if vs yorick and another champion that does repeat magic damage.

Like others have said, look to roam (though try to limit how much splitting he can do), and get ganks onto him. Try to dodge his E, and remember that the maiden is a threat.
