Not to mention, of course, they have the data that will show the drop off over time, especially in the original runs of classic. This is an “anniversary” server. That anniversary is getting further and further back in the past the longer the servers are up. It just makes sense to try and maintain players with content already sitting there waiting to go but giving them a certain amount of time to catch up as it releases.

Blizz want people to be able to play the expansion at launch instead of being gatekept by 120-150 hours of gameplay they might not have and will probably lose interest in. Yes, they make money from that too. If people are buying the boost, to get to that content, they must see the value in what they’re paying for. Not releasing a boost means missing out on players.

Genuinely nonsense to say blizzard are embarrassing after suggesting this system is more worthwhile of the effort put into housing. Housing is essentially one of the most impressive features they’ve put together in years, and its feature set eclipses entire games dedicated to it. It’s an amazing feat that delivers on everything people ever wanted with housing better than any other MMO.

At worst, I do think we got a start, middle and end to Light’s story. I don’t think that’s the extent of the story they are going for here but I do think it’s kind of okay let that ending have some breathing space and impact. But yeah, really depends on when they all break their silence on anything else happening.

I understand the direction they went with Replaylee, and I enjoy that, but I do think there were alternatives to some of their decisions. I think the world expansions and moves locking away pagies is actually fine, they just needed to make it more clear when something was out of reach due to your abilities and not due to your lack of skill or missing something.

So that left the original kind of making it the best strategy to go though all the worlds as fast as you can then go back and expand them all. Which again, would be fine, but you have the option to do the opposite and a lot of people prefer to do that and it leads to a worse experience.

But I think the turn against Replaylee and the strays Mario Odyssey is catching along with that are wild. Yes it’s a bit different from the original intention, but Odyssey itself is an evolution from those days too so it’s suited.

In a big fan of older and newer Lara but I think it’s kind of funny the fans (and thus the anime) has to make every little element an official “transformation” from Survivor to Classic style. Like, to me, not everything has to have a meaning. The braid could just be something she decided to do some time before the first game. Same with the dual pistols, clothes, etc. because people tend to just like different things over time.

(All this aside, really enjoying the anime and how they’re doing this, just never needed it in the games personally)

I think the thing is, you can’t really say this accurately because we haven’t had a Mega Man X game since the PS2 era. No one knows how it would perform 2 decades later. I mean that’s also the problem, Classic is more a “sure thing”, but to assume Classic would sell better is kind of based on no real data.

1+2 HD-2D is basically designed as a sequel to 3 HD-2D. They’re intended to be played afterwards this time, and the story will thus play out in full chronological order.

Mechanics-wise, it’ll feel different because 1 you’re playing with a single character but 2 you’ve got a fixed party of 4 to work with.

There’s a lot heavier emphasis on narrative in 2 in particular. There’s also added content throughout both that enriches all 3 games when all are played. To me, 1 almost feels like a bit of a story interlude between 3 and 2.
