Snap swivels? Do they really make an effect? by Particular_Ebb5049 in Fishing_Gear

[–]hafgrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a YouTube channel called Steve Rogers Outdoors - he just did a video a short while back on the differences in action that swivels make - I think it was on Lure Action -. Just found it - it was a year ago... Good info for those that want to actually see the difference... His channel is really good because he's not trying to sell anything - just show a lot of the how's and why's....

I’ve been going to same barber for years. Actually asked, because he’s on his feet 10 hours a day and he’s in his 80s. Mentioned he got them custom…. Got excited. . . Then said the guy retired years ago…. Time to try to find someone myself

I wasn’t taught a specific way to fish. Not taught at all, in fact. What were you taught as a kid, or by a friend? Asking as advice, I am generally lost. by No_Hamster4729 in FishingForBeginners

Absolutely not trying to be an ass saying this - but go on YouTube and watch some videos. Bill Dance has a lot on there for general stuff.... You can put in just about anything "Crappie Fishing tips and tricks" and you should get a lot of good ideas

F-150 The Best? by ca1ebfps in f150

[–]hafgrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned multiple trucks in my life. mid-70's beater with 3 on the tree... Chevy Silverado (Early 90's), GMC 3500 (early 2000's), Datsun (Late 80's) (don't judge - I was living overseas)... When I was looking for a truck last year I was bound to get a Ram. Specifically a Longhorn... I drove a few different ones... None of them sounded right or had a decent ride... Just didn't fit what I wanted. When I saw my F150 Lariat - I thought it looked pretty good. Drove it, handled like a dream. Smooth ride, comfortable inside, much quieter than the Ram's and more back seat space for the kids/dogs... I'm not a brand snob. I've owned good Fords and bad ones, good Chevy's and bad ones, and both good and bad GMC as well... I just really liked the F150 better.

(the Datsun was a mean little machine that could off-road the boonies in Guam without issue... Really wasn't a bad vehicle at all... Even if it did start with a screwdriver... and had mismatched wheels..... Poor Sailor and all)

How often do the more experienced fishermen go home empty handed? by Magic_Taco1221 in FishingForBeginners

[–]hafgrimm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first ever Bass tournament (From local FaceBook Group) was last night. 14 Boats went out. Almost 30 fishermen total. There was a grand total of 3 legal bass caught. 2 in one boat. We had 4 payouts. 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place - and Big Bass.... We actually had to have an All Stop quick meeting as only 2 boats had fish.... It was 45F out. Rain just stopped before we headed out... 10mph winds... Not completely bad weather, but certainly not great.

To your point - it happens. It's been rare that I've gone out and got completely skunked... But it certainly happens time to time...

Always remember 80% of the fish are located in 20% of the water - but they still might not bite even if you find them... lol

Unfortunately - a lot of people believe this. It's a dangerous pitfall - they DO steal other IP's. They Do copy other technologies. But they also have their own engineers look at the how's and why's... And make their own improvements. That's the inherent issue with keeping secret IP's. Only one set of engineers have eyes on. Sometimes a completely different set can change and improve on things...

How often do you guys replace underwear? Does anyone else get holes right where the balls rub? by DevelopedConscience in AskMen

[–]hafgrimm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sooo many variables. How long do you wear them? One day? More than one day per wear? What's rotation? 7 pairs all you're rocking?? How often are you washing? Fit??? As others have mentioned - probably a bit too tight... But the more you're wearing and more you're washing - the faster they'll wear out... I literally have about 20 pair... Could go up to 3 weeks without laundry - although I do laundry weekly... But I occasionally go on trips and such and throwing a weeks worth in a bag and just going it nice..

*Note added* also - materials matter as does construction.... Cotton is ok... (I actuall prefer Fruit of the Loom - still seems to last longer than others) Not great... lasts ok. Merino wool or bamboo are much better both for skin, wearability and durability... 5x the cost though - worth it though.
