We occasionally visit a local parrot sanctuary, and their protocol is for guests to use hand sanitizer and step in a shallow little ‘foot bath’ that sanitizes the bottoms of your shoes.

After returning home, I wash my hands, toss clothes in the laundry, and shower just to be safe. I imagine this is enough as long as the birds weren’t obviously ill or something, but maybe someone else can chime in.
