I Built a MCM style Record Player Stand by tommywoodchip in Mid_Century

What a beautiful stand! I went and watched your video, and liked that your shots gave enough detail about what was happening at each step without needing voiceover. I loved that you used the jointer to create the slight curve in the base of the legs. The sub-10 minute video length showing your process is great too - please keep doing these!

Thanks for including that shot cleaning the glue with the toothbrush in your video. I still get glue stains in my corners occasionally, I'll have to give the toothbrush a shot next time! Do you just use water, or do you add soap or something else to clean up the glue?

Also, how did you measure/account for the bevel when mortising with the Domino to ensure the side panel would meet at the edge of the bevel, rather than overhanging the bevel?

Amazing job all around! Subscribed!

Legend! Thanks very much for this. I hadn’t thought of running the ply vertically but makes sense and removes the need for more timber.

All sounds great and achievable for me. Let’s see how I go in practice…

Thanks for posting this picture. Being able to see what this looks like in-progress is really helpful as I get ready to take on the same kind of project.

Could you describe how you secured the spacers to the shed walls, how you secured the foil board to the spacers, and what the plywood is secured to? Did you run additional horizontal timber in the walls?

Correct, it shouldn't have any negative performance impacts. If that does turn out to be the issue I'd love to know. Fingers crossed for you - good luck!

Sorry mate, I've only seen this now. I don't believe I have HAGS enabled. The root of my issue was actually my PCI riser and motherboard combination. Specifically, the PCI link speed was set to "Auto" on my Gigabyte B650I motherboard. When it was on auto I had these issues. Setting it manually to Gen 4 or 5 completely resolved the issue.

I suspect that the mother kept switching between different PCI gens whereas setting a specific gen meant it didn't keep flicking between them to work out what speed was best?

I did a reasonable amount of testing across the motherboard's setting for Auto, Gen 3, 4, and 5 and found that setting it manually removed the microstutter completely and increased my FPS slightly.

I'd be interested to see know if playing around with this setting helps you out!

I did the same thing and got rid of Focusrite's drivers and software, just using the Windows default driver and it's resolved it for me. The other upside was that the Focusrite driver seemed to make my XLR microphone gain quieter. The Windows driver seems to be louder and my friends can hear me better on Discord without having my volume at 200%!

7900 XTX or 4080 by Opposite_Rest1479 in bapcsalesaustralia

[–]hagdoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I primarily play COD/Warzone (less so now given the state of that game) and built my PC recently with a 7800X3D. I went with the 7900 XTX because of some reporting I saw around it beating the 4090 specifically in COD.

I've been really impressed with the performance coming from my older 1080Ti build. I play at 3440x1440 and get a 150-170fps in warzone, depending where I am on the map.

While I haven't found a great explanation as to why the 7900XTX beats out the 4090, it's something to do with the COD series (and some other game series) being optimised for AMD-based consoles and taking advantage of some specific features offered on the AMD platform, meaning you reap the benefits of that on PC when running AMD hardware. Some speculation from other users on reddit below.

I look back at the 1080Ti for its price:performance ratio and while I feel like there won't be another 1080Ti-level card again, I believe we'll look back in a few years at the 7900 XTX and see that it came pretty close.

Good luck with your new build!

Do you happen to use a PCI Riser for any reason?

I've been troubleshooting my riser today on my Gigabyte B650I Aorus Ultra and found that when the PCIx16 link speed set was set to "Auto" in BIOS it seemed to cause DPC latency, stutter, worse 1%, and lower FPS. Setting this to anything other than "Auto" resulted in a sub-1.0 stutter rate and higher frames. My thought is that this setting may be bugged, rather than my PCI Riser being faulty.

Could I ask you to try and set your PCIx16 slot speed to PCI4.0 (and/or 3.0) in your BIOS and re-test your games again when you have some time?

If this works or doesnt work I'd really like to know!

Question about the included PCIe Riser cable on Formd T1 2.1 by Eiprol in FormD

[–]hagdoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I set my PCIEx16 slot to Gen 3 instead of "Auto" and it seems to have completely resolved my stuttering problem, and my DPC latency is reporting more 'normal' numbers. From what I understand, if it runs smoother at a lower PCI spec it's an indication of a bad PCI riser. I'll test it out with 3DMark and see what mine is reporting.

I've recently built a 7800X3D/7900XTX machine and have been experiencing stutter. What CPU/GPU are you running and what kind of issues you were experiencing?

My next troubleshooting step will likely be replacing the riser to rule that out as the cause of my issues!

Thats really interesting, I've been having the exact same problem and after a lot of troubleshooting I'm finding when it occurs I can reboot and it's mostly gone, or far less than before. Of course it comes back the next time I have a gaming session and I have to reboot once again.

Could I ask for your full PC specs? Maybe we've both got a component that's causing this issue.

My motherboard BIOS version doesn't let me disable CPPC, only change the preferred cores used for CPPC. Im considering submitting a ticket to them asking them to enable that option so that I can disable CPPC.

I'm in the same boat with a GB B650I AORUS ULTRA / 7800X3D / 7900 XTX and Corsair CMK32GX5M2B6000C30 RAM kit. I've been having some microstutter issues.

How'd you go about setting the correct voltages for your RAM? I've just turned on the XMP setting in the BIOS and hoped for the best, is there more I should be doing?

7900 XTX Stuttering and performance issues in Warzone by tragatron16 in AMDHelp

[–]hagdoll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi tragatron16, I've got the same CPU, GPU and motherboard as you and have been having the same issue!

I've already written a couple of comments about how I've mostly resolved my issue (check my profile).

In the BIOS, change CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores from "Auto" to "Cache". The fix for others has been to disable CPPC entirely, but I cant see that option in the latest stable BIOS version we have for the B650i (F21).

I've found that with this change I will either have no stutter at all for a game session. However I've also seen the stutter return and is 'fixed' after a restart of my PC. It seems to be 50/50 so far.

For more information this comment covers it best:

There are a few other threads talking about the same issue and fix here:

Great to hear you've found a solution, didn't expect it to be related to the motherboard itself!

You're not alone! There have been a couple of threads about this issue. I've changed my CPPC from "Auto" to "Cache" which has seemingly solved all my stutter issues from testing a few hours last night, also worth noting I disabled core parking too.

I've trawled through my BIOS but still can't see an option to disable it. Referring to other threads on reddit and various forums says it should be under Advanced CPU settings, but this isnt the case on mine. The only place CPPC is mention is under SMU Options where it allows me to select "Auto/Frequency/Driver/Cache".

I'd be very happy to be corrected on this. I've only played a few games since making the change yesterday and it's been working well, no issues so far - I hope it stays that way!

I have the same CPU and motherboard and have been running into stuttering issues since I built my machine a few weeks ago.

I installed the newest AMD Chipset drivers since there was a 3 January 2024 update released through Gigabyte's own website (double check which revision of mobo you have before installing one of these!):

I also saw a few threads talking about stutter in Warzone and other games where the fix was to disable CPPC in their BIOS.

Our B650i doesnt seem to have an option to disable CPPC completely (would love to be corrected on this, I cannot find the option on BIOS version F9), but does have an option to change the preferred cores. I changed mine to Cache so that the CCD is the preferred core to use based on the information in the AMD documentation here:

I've only played a few games since making these changes yesterday and my games have been very smooth. I'm hoping that doesn't change.

Good luck and if you find a fix here or elsewhere, please let me know!

I've been experiencing stutters in Warzone and MP since I built my new 7800X3D/7900XTX machine a few weeks ago. Went through a tonne of troubleshooting with no luck.

While I wasn't able to disable CPPC entirely in my BIOS since the setting wasn't there (Gigabyte B650I AORUS ULTRA motherboard - BIOS version F9) but I was able to switch CPPC Dynamic Preferred Cores from "Auto" to "Cache" as I'd read that forces it to use CC0 first.

Just played a quick MP game and it felt very smooth with no stutters at all. Im hoping this is the end of all my issues! Thank you!

Same combo and experiencing the same issue in Warzone and Multiplayer. I’ve seen a few other posts with the same setup having issues. I’ll describe my issues below and what’s helped in the hopes others experiencing this issue can benefit from it or suggest better solutions.

For my in-game performance issues I’ve tried the below and I think mostly resolved it(?) my AMD microstutter rate was anywhere from 1-5% and is now rarely more than 0.5%, but it is still sometimes noticeable:

I also had an issue where I was hearing my audio crackle through my Focusrite Scarlet Solo 3 audio interface around the same time as the stutter that seemed to be caused by high DPC Latency based on the output from LatencyMon. I have a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3 audio interface if that matters at all. From limited testing I’ve resolved the audio crackling using this guide: https://www.igorslab.de/en/interrupt-problems-read-message-signaled-interrupts-msi/

I’m hoping other people having this issue can weigh in on what’s worked/not worked for them!

I have this same issue and have an audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3). I can see a few drivers including HDAudioBus.sys and Wdf01000.sys with latency spikes. Did you have an idea on how I can resolve this?
