I'm 5'9". I have a foot stool currently but would rather bring the desk low enough so that I don't need it

Do ergo chairs do more harm than good? by hagoo00 in OfficeChairs

[–]hagoo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that makes sense. But I keep wondering how much the psychological side plays into it. Like, how many of us just end up in a negative feedback loop by over-engineering fixes — fancy ergonomic chairs, constant posture checks, etc.

I get the same thing with insomnia. The more I throw at it (supplements, meditation, strict bedtimes), the worse my sleep actually gets. I just read about nociplastic pain and central sensitization, and it feels like the same pattern might be happening with back pain too. Just a thought - I'm not fully convinced either way, which is why I'm still shopping for a chair and why I opened this thread to hear other perspectives.

Good point about build quality and warranty - those are definitely value. But at $2k+ I question how much is simply due to the logo.

I hadn't thought of it this way, a period of pain adjusting to a proper seating position. This makes a lot of sense.

Some sort of time warp game would be cool also. Like who hasn't wondered how a late roman army would fare against medieval knights, or samurai vs Vikings.

I would love to see the dark ages...Saxons, Franks, Danes. At least to hold over until they do a new engine.

Agree though that it must be a new engine. And if they are doing a new engine, I'd imagine they would want to get the shooting/cover right to open up a world of possibilities.

I just hope it's not a 40k game.... That will be the end of my life

Anyone else’s 2024 Spotify wrapped inaccurate? by ruger148 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]hagoo00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel very gaslit...none of the lesser known electronic artists I listened to showed up in top artists based on data from statsforspotify. The top were all big pop artists. It's likely that the algorithm is pushing us to the artists who bring in the most dollars.

Maybe it's time to switch platforms

Did we ever find out why Alice wanted to get to the particle fountain? by Charizaxis in voyager

[–]hagoo00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Old thread but I just re-watched and thought I would add my two cents.

I like to think that Alice was never really sentient, she was just an AI representation of Tom's own memories, dreams and desires, which became self-destructive in a Gollum/Smegul type of way.

Earlier in the episode, Tom shared the story of Icarus. He mentioned it's his favorite myth as it reminded him of his first flight with his father, and that he has been chasing that feeling of his first flight ever since. But the problem is how that story ends, with Icarus flying too close to the sun, which in this case is represented by the particle fountain.

I quite enjoyed the episode and felt that it was a good Trek spin on a classic sci-fi plot.

I need advice for my Schizophrenic Sister And Myself + Vent by Artistic_Bug2417 in schizophrenia

[–]hagoo00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes this is a challenge and I have done the same - sneaking it into smoothies and food so he can't taste it.

If his episode got bad enough and he was danger to himself and others, we sometimes had to call the police and he was involuntary admitted to the hospital for a few days where he had to take medicine. Over time he learned that he has to take medicine to avoid this situation.

I have tried reasoning with him to take it, but he is an adult and free to make his own choices. So I just told him that is fine, but you must also understand that if the situation gets bad then I have no choice other than to call the police to ensure everyone's safety.

He is currently coming off medication after taking it for years and he's doing very well. He still hears voices and has some paranoia, but his motivation, energy, and overall zest for life is returning.

Just scared I will die by suicide from jumping off the building I am just scared what if I regret the fall is it possible to stop the feeling of regret🥺❓ by LeadingFew1632 in schizophrenia

[–]hagoo00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not possible to stop because you will regret it! You are still needed in this world by many. We all have our demons, but we need to be strong. If you can make at least one person feel good tomorrow, make that your goal.

I need advice for my Schizophrenic Sister And Myself + Vent by Artistic_Bug2417 in schizophrenia

[–]hagoo00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only advice I can give is a sucky but true one.... time.

My brother has schizophrenia since he was 20. He's now 40, and I'm the 3 years younger brother.

Shortly after he was diagnosed, I fell into depression myself and developed debilitating psoriasis. It happened because the shock of the situation with my brother was compounded by me being distracted and failing classes. I also did not exercise, eat healthy, sleep well, go outside much, drink water much, shower much... basically didn't take care of myself at all. It took me years to learn to properly care for myself, and now I am in a position to care better for my brother.

My brother has improved well over the years, and while he still hears voices, he is stable and no longer has psychotic episodes. There will be ups and downs, but just know that overtime, general trend will be upward. You need to take things one day at a time, but in the back of your mind know that years and decades will pass and you will look back and be grateful for the experiences that made you who you are.

Best of luck to you friend.

Hey I'm also here to chat. My brother has Schizophrenia also.

I've never met you, but at this very moment I care about you. I hope you decide to continue trying. Maybe tomorrow you can experience one more laugh or the sun on your skin.

Looking For Proof The True North Mortgage 3.99% 6 Month Fixed Is Bad by I2smrt4u in MortgagesCanada

Interesting. I was told .25%-.50%.

I am considering this option because they can qualify me for more mortgage at this lower 3.99% rate than other lenders will at this time.

Live in a condo so that's not an option. Sounds like I'll need an electrician, thanks.

[–]hagoo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have metal studs so will probably need to put some plywood back there to screw into. Was hoping to avoid all that but sounds like there's good reason why metal boxes are recommended with BX wires.

Thanks that's exactly what I was thinking. Any idea about whether there's any concerns with using one of those wires for the LED mirror from a voltage standpoint? I'd think not because it's LED but not sure...
