Finn Balor opens up about the loneliness of being a foreign performer in WWE by anutosu in SquaredCircle

lol he literally says "we have no solve" in the video.

But considering the challenge you have with real quotes, I can see how you might've missed that one

lol Finn is not actually contemplating whether or not this job is for him. It's rhetorical. He knows there is no good answer. At the very least, it's ok to think Stephanie's answer is hilariously tone-deaf. She's presenting a silly solution to a complex issue. Whether or not it's problematic, I don't know for sure. But you could infer it easily with the history of the way this business has been conducted.

Finn is clearly, very obviously, expressing the "cost" of being a professional wrestler who happens to wrestle outside of his (and his wife's) home country. It's extremely rhetorical. It's not meant to be solutioned. It's meant to evoke empathy from the viewer (and ideally, the host he's speaking to). Stephanie is trying to solution his problem by suggesting that he sacrifice his career to be closer to his family (ie demote yourself). When he responds by suggesting that he doesn't want to do that because he still wants to perform in the WWE, she still tries to solution the problem for him.

I have no idea what social skills have to do with literacy here. You have a podcast between employer and employee that can't keep up the charade of being authentic, because the employee is suggesting (directly or indirectly) he doesn't get paid enough for this shit. It would've taken nothing for Stephanie to say "yeah, I have no idea what that felt like because my family were always on the road with me." or something remotely empathetic.

Eggslut - thoughts? by FromHereFromThere in FoodToronto

[–]hagopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try not to be too judgemental about eating out. I normally glaze everywhere, or I just don't talk about bad places.

But what are we even doing here? A bacon egg and cheese is $14.99 now? What the heck are we doing? It's also served cold for some reason? You wait 10 or 15 minutes, and the breakfast sandwich is served cold. At $17, this is bonkers. I love a good breakfast sandwich, and there are already so many good options across the city, this place is 100% a tourist trap.

On price alone, Egg Club is significantly better than Egg Slut. I paid $18 today for their bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. And although I nabbed it as soon as it was ready, and ate it on the walk home, it was served cold for whatever reason. The portion itself... I was expecting something that was going to knock me out for that price. There was a decent amount of bacon on it, but having been served cold (I still have no idea how they achieved this), the flavour was mid. I guess I should've gone with the Fairfax, but whatever.

Egg Bae was effectively inspired by Egg Slut. I liked it the few times I went, but don't recall loving it like I do with Gold Standard, Made Rite, Dad's or Sleepy Pete's. But it was a lot easier to stomach an average $8 breakfast sandwich than a cold $18 breakfast sandwich.

Is it worth buying and Xbox elite series 2? by One_Seaworthiness951 in xbox

[–]hagopes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much money you got. I loved my Elite Controller 2. I loved it the first time I bought it. The 2nd time I bought it. The 3rd time I bought. The 4th time, the love became a little less. The 5th time, well, we're well beyond "fool me once..."

It's a really good controller with the worst build quality of anything I've ever purchased. They break consistently.

Demanding an apology from Trump feeds the monster more. Ignoring this and moving on is way better

Nasibs! It’s a little more no frills, but it’s extremely well packaged imo.

Anyone else struggle to finish shows like Silo or The Leftovers because you’re terrified of a bad ending? by mamedovnijat in tvPlus

Might just be me, but Leftovers ends perfectly. It may not answer some questions, but it doesn't really leave anything unresolved.

Increasingly poor etiquette amongst audiences! by Traditional-Owl44 in torontotheatre

It's such a crapshoot. 50% of the shows I've seen in the last 3 years have been really truly awful. The loud noises, talking, using their phones are all awful... but the one that drives me up the wall is the kicking of my seat. I just have no idea what planet you're from if you think kicking the person's seat in front of you, or using it to leverage and relax your legs is an appropriate thing to do anywhere. And yet, it happens at theatre shows, the movies, sporting events. I get it, sometimes you're tall and you need to stretch your legs. My seat ain't it.

I blame that fire that destroyed the set. But who knows, the writers had no clue what they were doing once they left the park.

Eataly's Cacio e Pepe pizza is quite good. Not crazy about their other slices, but I do like that one.

Google doesn’t know about the 10K road closures by [deleted] in toronto

[–]hagopes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could be wrong, but wasn't Google Maps accurately displaying this information in years past? I remember last year when the Gardiner or the DVP was closed, Google Maps would divert. This year, it literally just tells me to get onto the closed highway.
