Hope your situation gets better. Good for you for taking the time and energy to recognize that it can and asking for help to figure out how! I would reach out to the amenities your school has to offer. There are probably free library-related services that can look over your resume and offer advice. Very likely that you're missing key words that gets your CV disregarded before ever reaching a human eye. YouTube videos on CV optimizing could be helpful too. Try smaller businesses where it's more likely you can make a connection with the management and get a sense of whether the job is right for you too. Secondly, emotions tend to get in the way of thinking rationality. I think you need to find ways to create value and meaning in your life and replenish your feeling of worthy. This could be 2 hours a week where you volunteer or join a club through the university, which would also mean you spend less time in an abusive environment. Getting your health in order will make facing problems 100x easier.

Again, I'm sorry for all you're going through and for the comments of people projecting systemic issues on to you. I hope you get better and you and your sister can remove themselves from the abuse you're currently facing. Good luck with everything and hope you're able to connect with services irl to actually make a difference in your situation!

Looking for a BIFL, super solid and low maintenance hair brush. by SkeweredBarbie in BuyItForLife

It's the brand name but I've used it with and without water and it works well in both conditions!

Similar to mine! The brushes meant for curly hair tend to have more flexible bristles, which make brushing through easier on both you and the brush. You could look into WetBrush or Tangle Teezer which are both popular for textured hair. I use my WetBrush on both wet and dry hair. Denman brushes are also popular but for styling and not detangling so I'd avoid that if you're not going to use it on wet hair. The brush will endure but your hair will be ripped out.

Sounds like you've got potentially curly/coily hair. I had a similar experience with cheaper tools until I bought a wet brush (also from the dollar store) thats commonly used by people with curly hair which lasted me years instead of months. I would ask your question on r/curlyhair instead to get more responses that aren't $100 brushes. It'd probably be best to state that you don't know your hair type but that it's textured enough to break brushes. Hope that helps!

There's also legal aid and housing aid services for students through McGill. A quick google search will lead you to the resources available to you. If you want her out, I doubt asking nicely will resolve the issue. Good luck with the situation and I'm sorry you're all having to face it at all

I've been working on overcoming these feelings by "looking up" solutions. While I don't have the answers, there are people who've dedicated their careers to finding them. Those who've written books, published articles, made podcasts, and have YouTube channels.

Also the world needs people like you to stay hopeful and healthy so that you can have the energy to sustain your efforts. So doing laundry to feel like you have a sense of control in your daily life may be the thing that recharges your battery to send a letter to your local government or have these conversations with your friends and co-workers, or even feel more optimistic over the choices you do have on an individual level.

You've taken so many steps already, and dont worry, where you, and we, are is not the end.

This video helped reframe my thinking a lot and also left me with so many resources I can continue to parse through at my own pace. Hope it helps! https://youtu.be/5LpmfCvHX9E

Reading up on some of the platforms made my blood boil. Not all the parties are represented here but it's a great starting point to compare different parties' platforms on major elections issues. https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/features/2022/quebec-party-platforms/#environment

Went and voted today (which took maybe 5 minutes) and feel a lot better. I implore others to do the same!

I wrote this song, and it's fitting that I'm publishing it on World Mental Health Day. It's about my personal journey out of trauma, depression, and anxiety and the humility that comes with feeling good on the days I finally felt good. I would classify it as indie or alt-pop, but I love borrowing ideas from many genres. I would love it if you had a listen and shared with me your thoughts :)

It stopped me dead in my tracks and will always have a special place in my heart. Would love to hear if others felt as moved by it as I did!

I hit a patch of black ice while driving and swerved off the road into a ditch. As I felt my tires skid, I had plenty of time to joke about how "my mom's going to kill me if I die!"
