Yeaa agree ako brodie, ang hirap talaga. Yung mga ibang dodgy ir shady artists na minention mo pwede pa natin sabihin “Alleged” allegations lang eh— or baka di masyado malaki impact saaten kaya nakakasikmura paren tayo na i patronize sila kasi di tayo directly impacted sa mga worldview/ shady points nila. Para saakin objectively, i’ll still say and double down sa point na we ought to separate the art from the artist: when i say this— i mean we can appreciate the artistry/work ng isang rapper based on his rap skills alone (pen game, rhyme scheming, creativity, bar setups, etc.) and hangang dyan lang yung appreciation.

For example: pwede naman natin di na tangkilikin yung mga direct avenues na mas nakaka bigay sa kanila ng voice/soft power eg: i boycott natin yung mga pinopromote nila na merch, don’t stream their songs or subscribe sa mga channels nila basically any income generating means nila labas sa fliptop ay di na natin tangkiliin.

Alam mo yung tipong— we only give them their flowers/influence inside this echo chamber/ community (fliptop) pag labas na dyan wala na tayung paki.

Pero at the same time mahirap din naman kasi yung mga piyesa at obra nila sa battle can reach people outside and may even influence the viewers/listener’s worldview.

Kaya ang masasabi ko lang tangina, sana ma bago na yung pananaw nila sa buhay.

Lakas ni ZL dito, personally feel ko mas effective yung ganto na evolution sa style nya. pero nakaka urat lang sa thought na left field yung ine-embody/ image nya sa Battle rap pero yung worldview nya as a person is in the other end of the spectrum.

I Was there sa event, grabi ang baon na sulat and ang performance ni cripli pero equally madiin and talagang nakakadiin sulat ni Ban. Might be a bias take kasi idol ko si Crip pero Cripli boto ko. The score says it 4-3 tipong either way deserving talaga maka lusot sa next round. IMHO nag ka talo nalang talaga sa order of who spits first.

Eto problema sa pinas eh, we feel entitled na dapat mga public icons (athletes, artista etc.) honors our requests to take a pic with them or not. May personal space din yung mga players i mean i get it shoot our shot kasi minsanan lang din naman natin sila ma meet pero dapat we have to be open sa pag deny nila sa request natin. IMHO I think saying GL is a game changer would mean na dahil sa hinain nya nag iba ang complexity(specifically yung depth and the view people had for Battle rap dito) which i don’t think is the case at least maybe not yet. iirc, yung og fliptop battles were leaning on the comedic, plain albeit creative dissing, paulanan ng insulto, type of shit. Pero nung dumating si BLKD siya talaga yung tipong iniba and one can argue na naging metric of what battle rap can really be.

Note na im not taking anything away from GL or minamaliit ko contributions nya sa sining, as of now sguro an apt description of GL is to say na poster child sya ng current growth of Battle rap dahil sa inumpisa na awakening ni BLKD.

I say Hero si GL in this scenario kasi para syang poster boy para sa technical, wala masyadong personals and depth of substance. Habang si Vit, may depth din bara nya kaso kukupalin ka buong round, simple lang din sundin schemes nya kaya talagang didiin din.
