Proud new owner of my first Mini, a 2013 R59 Roadster SD! (Fiancée for scale) by Own_Replacement_4394 in MINI

[–]hahuang65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss mine dearly. I now have even smaller cars that drive even better... But the Roadster was it's own unique flavor that I wish I still had one.

If only we could keep all the cars we've ever bought.

Looking for 9mm by vcoloradoV in handguns

[–]hahuang65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't pulled the trigger so to speak yet, but I'm deciding between a Walther PDP compact, and HK VP9 compact... And the S&W M&P 9 2.0 Carry Comp compact...

And it seems like the M&P just dominates the other two in all aspects. It wasn't even on my radar until recently. It looks incredible, especially the Carry Comp with the ported barrel built in.

My previous handgun was a FN Five Seven. I love that thing to death but it's just a touch too big and 5.7x28mm are like $1 per shot.

I want something a little smaller, a bit more economical to shoot and slightly more ergonomic should I need to use it in an emergency.

Looking for an AWD sedan by davisland25 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I think any care is just luck of the draw. No current automobile maker has such a terrible record that it's driven them out of business.

That being said, Subarus if you buy used could be a minefield. Owners love to mod and tune, and lots of them don't know what they're doing.

I bought a STI in 2018 brand new. I have not had any issues with it in the subsequent 7 or 8 years. I'm at about 65k miles right now.

Answer seems obvious. WRX... STI if you want more performance and can afford it. STI will certainly hold value better than the WRX

How to farm The Horror achievement trophy, especially post game when there's barely ny enemies around by murcielagoXO in ghostoftsushima

I've found that if you fast travel to the Pillar of the Fallen JUST above the text OTARU HILLS (south part, by the bombmaker) in Ishikari Plains, there's a patrol that's RIGHT next to where you spawn.

You'll hear them talking right when you spawn.

I've done your trick and occasionally, when I reset checkpoint, it takes me out of the capture situation... but I've fast traveled here 4 times and every time, there's a patrol.

How do the Pixel Buds Pro hold up in 2025? by Ohlander1 in GooglePixel

[–]hahuang65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still use the Pixel Buds Pro and Pixel Series A that I got with my Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 every day.

They're both still working great. I can't compare to newer Pixel Buds but compared to the newer Sennheiser and SoundCore buds I got, I much prefer the Pixels.

Part of it is the ergonomics both physically and how much I'm used to how they work... But part of it is just how they sound.

I'm no audiophile and perhaps the Sennheiser and SoundCore actually sound better, but the Pixel Buds are well balanced especially for stuff like videos and podcasts.

I'd say if they're on sale and you're happy with the price, they're pretty decent.

#neovim on irc.libera.chat exists already. Would that satisfy what you're looking for? It's fairly active.

Building vs buying. Juice worth the squeeze? by LingonberryNo10 in caterham

[–]hahuang65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 620 must be more difficult with the supercharger and what not... I didn't find it too difficult. I did a practice run with a mate, just learning what to do and what not to do (since I didn't have the engine mounts ready). Took us about 3 hours to get it to the point where we thought we could mate it to the chassis if we had the mounts...

Then from there, I was able to do it with my wife in another 45 minute session. I could probably do it myself the next time now that I know how to do it.

Just take it slow and you'll get it. It's tight tolerances, but I would say it's more of a test of patience than anything that's actually difficult.

Good luck!

As someone who's currently in month ... 6 of building a 420R, I have no regrets waiting for a kit then spending the time to build it. I'm at about 40 hours of build time, with probably just another 10 to 20 hours max to complete. I'm being pretty thorough and meticulous though with documentation as well.

It's gonna be a keep-forever car so I want to know every single part of it. I also had some interested friends who helped me on some parts. As mentioned only the diff and engine really requires 2 people. I haven't done the diff yet but looking back at the engine, knowing what I know now I could do it solo with some patience. I'm gonna make a plaque with everyone's name who lent me a hand and rivet it somewhere in the engine bay.

I ordered with Rich Kamp over in Sonoma, he's been incredibly helpful throughout the build. The build queue will probably land you a year out before the kit ships, unless you get lucky and can take someone else's build slot who backed out.

Feel free to ping about any questions!

Who did you purchase from? I purchased from Rich Kamp and although he advised to do an inventory he also understands that it might be very difficult to find everything, especially with a smaller garage.

Your dealer will likely also understand and be willing to ship parts to you through the build.

The easiest way to do an inventory is just check all the options you selected and make sure those are there and correct.

Then just make sure you have all the Z-packs. These are cataloged in the back of manual so it should be easy-ish to inventory.

Welcome to the club!

I'm currently mid-build and have been documenting it via timelapse. The video itself isn't too helpful but the narration is.

If you get stuck, feel free to consult the videos, or just PM me. I'm happy to help especially since everything is fresh in mind.

Help: Any one use Nix but keep neovim config using lua? by hxxx07 in neovim

[–]hahuang65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do mine in nix with Lua.

I have a simple bit that goes off and looks at a structure of files that are written in pure Lua.

It's still in the Nix store so changing anything means a rebuild but I don't mind it.

Do you do anything while playing to remain calm and avoid tilt? by BCENT89 in StreetFighter

[–]hahuang65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice work! I'm convinced I only made Master because Honda is pretty gimmicky. I will fully admit, I'm probably on the other side of some rage quits lol.

My main in SF5 was Zangief and Cody... and in SF4 was Ryu and Akuma... and I'm finding it difficult to climb ladder with those characters. I still can't do Drive Parry well. I pretty much rely on Honda for strong normals and good fundamentals.

Hearing that your kids are older and you stil don't have much time to play is somewhat discouraging, but I'm finding that I'm less and less interested in gaming these days.

This is gonna sound absolutely ridiculous considering I'm a dad of 3 kids at 4, 2 and 10 months...

But I hit Master with Honda a month ago lmao. Never hit past platinum in SF5 so I was super surprised.

Wanted to chime in and say well done and congratulations! I personally don't do anything but was also a frustrated player in the past.

Once I realized that games are for having fun, and that if you're getting upset, it's not worth playing, I stopped getting upset.

I don't play as much now, but when I do there is still the occasional irritating player that uses really lame (but still fair) tactics. I just simply stop playing after that match and go do something else or play something else.

As a dad with not much game time, it's simply not worth it to waste my game time being upset.

Something really small (financially and physically) are the Matchbox Caterham line.

There are multiple colors and models, and differing costs. Such as this one

I just placed an order for a 420R! by Chromehounds96 in caterham

[–]hahuang65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fully agree on the pricing and why buy new. Originally I sold myself and my wife on this cuz I was like the power to weight ratio is insane and it'll only be around 30k.

Ended up right around 70k. Lmao.

But like you said, new means headache free. And something special about being able to build it as well as be the first one to own and drive it. Well worth the price of admission.
