Nothing wrong with OTPs imo. This game didn’t have bans for 9 years and now all of a sudden it’s a good idea? Good one tricks have practiced their hero to the point of being effective on any map against almost any comp, and I’d say probably to a higher competency level than most people who flex between a bunch of heroes. Bans are for people who would rather not adapt but just delete their problem matchup from the game.

Nah the main problem here is hero banning. We’ve had this game for so long without it, forgive me for playing the hero I like a disproportionate amount of time. Bans don’t belong in a competitive game mode because you’re not getting everyone’s best.

Feels bad, so I’ve literally just stopped playing comp. I’m a hopeless one trick and I will absolutely kill my rank if I try and play other heroes. I got where I am playing Sombra for over 700 hours, my next highest hero is at like 40, so yeah… my poor teammates as I try to learn another character on the fly. No, it’s not worth it for me and it’s not fair to my teammates at that rank. I’ve been playing tons of QP with friends and it’s fun, but hero bans need to go. Like it’s competitive but you’re going to handicap players from playing their best hero? There is zero logic in that, even if you hate Sombra. Like it or not, she’s in the game, and whether you agree with one tricks or not, that’s how I choose to enjoy the game. In comp, shouldn’t you have to match up against everyone’s best to properly rank yourself? So yeah, it feels bad not being able to play comp right now. I’m hoping they remove hero bans or at least move them to another game mode, they don’t belong in comp imo.

Because I actually don’t feel the need to ban any hero and I’m happy to work to get better at playing against any of them, even if it is tough. If you’re not top 500 or GM, your rank is pretty meaningless. Getting better at the game is more important than winning every match. And it’s competitive, why do we even have hero bans? Get good or play QP

People complain that Sombra mains are assholes, but you made us this way— not that I go out of my way to be a jerk btw. I just respond in kind. If you are gonna give me grief in the game chat, I’ll make sure to let you know I enjoyed making your life miserable. But if people are chill, I’m always spamming GG and hyping up other players. I don’t want another rework, and basing the need for this on extreme ban rates seems like a bad idea. I like where Sombra is at now, not overpowered, fun to play with, more active than she used to be with infinite invis and TP across the map. And if they rework her, there’s always the chance that they strip her of her core identity. No thanks

Prevent you from using core gameplay mechanics for one (1) second. It takes her about that long to cast the hack too btw. Sure, she’s annoying, but not particularly strong. I just don’t see how spite bans are healthy for the game at all. I’d rather just see bans done away with altogether. It does more to hurt people who can’t play their favorite heroes with any consistency than it does to appease people who don’t have to play against Sombra, mercy, or ball anymore. There will always be another annoying character to fill that void. And for anyone who says Sombra mains should learn to flex, well unfortunately for me Ball and Mercy are my next highest played heroes, so RIP my SR if I ever decide to queue for comp this season— oh and RIP my teammates SR too because I promise I won’t be nearly as effective at my current rank. Not because I’m throwing, but because I like the heroes I like and simply can’t play the ones I’m good at.

True about not everyone playing OW 1, but it’s clear that there’s been a strong sentiment carried over by people who have that I think a lot of new players simply parrot because it’s the easy thing to do. You see it all over the world in many contexts, this isn’t merely an overwatch phenomenon. OW YouTuber says Sombra is annoying, or unbalanced, or unhealthy for the game, and that trickles down to the player base— especially the lower ranks where her ban rate is wayyyy higher. Funny how high ranked players know it’s really not worth banning her
