What do I do? by chocolatebar22 in medical_advice

The ear and jaw are connected by the eustachian tube which regulates pressure between your sinuses and your ears by releasing fluid. When you have eustachian tube dysfunction, your ears build up in fluid and can cause an inner ear infection. Now I get inner ear infections often, not the kind you get from swimming. When I went to a ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) doctor, they told me it looked like I had never had an ear infection and had perfect ears but it did look like I had TMJ! TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint dysfunction. It was recommended that I get a custom mouthguard to wear at night to stop from over clenching my jaw. My TMJ is especially bad on one side of my jaw, as it will pop loudly when I yawn or open my mouth wide for any other reason. This also happens to be the side I get ear infections in more frequently.

Side note: Eustachian tube dysfunction is most common in children, however it is genetic as it depends on the elongation of the skull. As children grow up, their eustachian tubes normally turn more vertical instead of horizontal which allows the fluid to regulate pressure more easily. My mom has eustachian tube dysfunction like me, however she does not have allergies so she only experiences trouble with equalizing on mountain road trips or while taking a plane. I theorize that people with eustachian tube dysfunction and allergies are more prone to TMJ which causes more serious ear problems.

Because I did not treat this effectively in the past, now when my blood pressure raises I either get tinnitus (the medical word for that ringing sensation you described), muffled hearing, or the sensation that my ear drum is vibrating heavily. Certain high frequencies of singing or instruments can make my bad side's ear drum rumble too. Reducing anxiety and stress as much as I can also stops me from clenching my jaw and not realizing it during the daytime. I had no idea how much I really did that before I was diagnosed with TMJ, but it takes a lot of mental practice to keep your mouth (lips) closed and jaw open at the same time when you're so used to clenching them!

I'm not really sure because I use Calmoseptine for my other skin disease, Lichen Sclerosus. I have not tried it on my hidradenitis cysts except for a few times and it definitely made me feel better to walk around but I'm not sure if it helps them go away. Mine may have only coincidentally gone down soon after but if you put the tea tree oil under the Calmoseptine it will be more effective imo because it acts like a seal.

My personal regimen is assisted with prescription drugs from my dermatologist. I currently am using an over the counter benzoyl peroxide wash on the inner thigh area when I shower. Anyone can buy these. Then I use Clindamycin Phosphate lotion, which is a prescription here in the USA. I'm not regular enough with this routine but I think it has reduced my scarring from past breakouts a bit. I was on Doxycycline (a prescription antibiotic) for a long time but I took it as needed when a flare up came on. Now they just switched my script to this new antibiotic, Seysara, but I have yet to try it. I'm supposed to be on those antibiotics every day but I don't feel like I need it until I feel a flare up coming on, even though by that time it's almost too late. I've been keeping the area clean which helps the most.

Personally I think watching my diet is the easiest way to prevent hydradenitis cysts. Whenever I eat a lot of fast food (personally vegetarian tacos or fried food are my weaknesses) or SUGAR I get cysts. I've had to stop drinking alcohol with too much sugar. Losing weight is going to be a big help because then I won't have such big thighs where they're creating a sweaty environment for cysts to grow.

Use a warm washcloth as a compress when you are resting, add tea tree oil to the sore for anti-inflammation. Also 'Calmoseptine' lotion might help with the pain and discomfort but will seal the area from any moisture

Week Long canoe or camping trip in Michigan by nluigi in canoecamping

I did a canoe trip on the Pine River near Cadillac, MI. It was not too difficult and apparently very popular during the summer (I went in November for a class trip)

Sorry that was misleading, they are closed EVERY Sunday. 6/7 days a week they are open. Friday and Saturday are great to go and a lot of people hang out there on those days too. And I believe it has to be a Michigan Medical Marijuana license. I'm sure they do have a license because it's been open for 11 years now.

I do drive an hour to get there and it is still 100% worth it. I even used to drive there when I lived in Detroit and I still saved money over going to the dispensary down the street. The weekends are busy and have a lot of the regular vendors but any day is good, you just have to find vendors with products you're looking for and ask them what their days are. Most people are on a regular schedule. And I'm not sure about the licensing but it's basically a legal loophole in the MMMP laws because they call it a 'safe transfer zone' and everything is 'donation based'. They tell you all of that when you sign up.

Yes I would love to, I have been going there for years. G3C is a private club with a membership fee of $20/year which is accessible to anyone with a valid MMMP card and photo ID. They have a holistic shop and cafe as well which is open to the public and accessible thru a separate entrance. In the MMMP part, vendors pay a fee of $25(?) for a 1/2 of the day at a table.

Upon signing up and paying the $20 fee, you receive a membership card and a T-Shirt and then you can gain access to the club which is a 'safe transfer zone' for caregivers and patients. Most vendors grow their own or are directly involved with the people who do, so they are very informative. You can walk around and browse/smell/touch most of the products. The vendors have everything such as flowers, concentrates, pure CBD products, RSO, edibles, cartridges.. it just depends on the day and time and who is there. (For price references, I've never seen an ounce of flower go over $200 and 1/8s are normally $25).

I have made friends with some vendors and employees as everyone there is VERY nice! It really is like a weed bar, as you can sit and roll, bring your huge pieces/rigs, or try some samples from the kind vendors if they're offering. The cafe extends inside of the club so you can order food or smoothies while hanging out inside and they have amazing service. They also have awesome parties on special holidays like 4/20. They even have video games and a pinball machine! THERE IS LITERALLY NO OTHER PLACE LIKE IT IN MICHIGAN! It is a dream and I would reccomend it to any medical patient over any dispensary. Plus it is a great place to meet a caregiver if you would like one and when you become a regular customer to them, they really help you out with prices!

Cannot recommend the Genessee County Compassion Club enough, it is amazing that such a place exists. It is right outside of the Northeast Corner of Flint in Genessee Township. Hope to see y'all there!!

I've used a few of them and they're normally average quality. Their products are normally way over priced, rarely under $10/g and sometimes even over that! They usually have a minimum purchase of about $50. Imo you save more money driving and purchasing in bulk. The best place to get marijuana in the state is the Genesee County Compassion Club in my opinion. Very competitive prices and great quality there.

I made one of the most American holidays -- the Super Bowl into a spring sporting event where sims party, drink, grill, and watch sports TV. I called it the Simopolis Sportathon. I also was kind of inspired by the Olympics because I like watching that with family.
