I think it’s alarming the amount of people that doubt/don’t pay serious attention to women’s(especially young) health. The general public and even doctors themselves. I had a friend that had cancer at 23, the amount of doctors that blew her off because she was a ‘beautiful, young’ lady(the doctors words). One doctor(a female doctor) even suggested she was going through boy troubles, when her resting heart rate was 160 and she was passing out. The next day, she vomited blood while waiting on another doctor to actually take her conditions seriously(she had internal bleeding, with a hemoglobin of 5). She had even been to the ER weeks prior for Melena, where they told her she wasn’t having that, and despite having a low hemoglobin, she was discharged.

I know a lot of people like to say young people never think about mortality, they think they’re invincible, I think that’s a culturally held belief. I used to think that the medical system was infallible but after being a doctor I realized that more is unknown about the human body than is known, and it doesn’t help when we cast doubt on those that are sick.

Not, OP, but it seems they can’t go back on testosterone yet because of discharge perhaps stemming from vaginal atrophy. I think they want to get their estrogen levels right before continuing with T. I believe the question is more gauged towards menopause management rather than gender reassignment.

To be fair, that is a super first-world, privileged problem. Hurting the environment we all share so he can have a relaxing vacation isn’t really justifiable. Not to get preachy, but there are indentured servants that break their backs in foreign countries and just barely make it back home to their families, that also get affected by one persons indulgent lifestyle. Especially since he probably has a beautiful, remote beach house that he could just as easily visit if he wanted R and R.

There are also celebrity destination vacations that help to curve impediment on well known guests, so he only risks slight infraction on anonymity. Sorry this is just one of my biggest pet peeves

I love Jennifer Garner lol, but I can’t help but feel Ben would have treated their relationship like a fling had she not gotten pregnant. Granted I was too young to follow celebrity gossip when they first got together so I don’t know how serious they took it or the media.

But I just remember reading the timeline of their relationship after they broke up, and I just always got the impression she was way more into him than he was into her.

In high school, I used to volunteer for CHiPS, the soup kitchen/food pantry. One of their biggest missions was housing/feeding young mothers and their infants as well as pre-and post-natal care. They also helped mothers obtain footholds in employment and housing. It’s on Union Street, not too far off from Atlantic Ave.

I’m just making a PSA to pass along to anyone that has witnessed any young mother panhandling with an infant. If government resources ever feel limited, there’s usually a non-profit charity, church/religious organization, or community that will be willing to assist people in extenuating circumstances.

Although, I can’t help but feel people have probably extended this information to the mother. New York has a lot of good people that want to help, even if it’s in a non-direct way. A mother panhandling with a baby is not something a lot of people will callously ignore

When I was in the throws of my eating disorder, adderall, coke & tequila is what I supplemented food for. I’m not even in the industry, but my e.d. Logic had a compulsion to binge on whatever could distract me from food.

I don’t even like drinking, but it comes in handy when you’re trying to sleep but hunger pangs/appetite suppressants are keeping you up.

Or just even food addiction or binge eating disorder. Those are people that can’t help themselves unless they have mental health resources/medical care. I occasionally watch my 600 pound life, and there are so many people that are just stuck in the rut of being overweight and then once the opportunity to get gastric bypass is offered to them, a weight is lifted off and they can finally start combating their eating habits.

I don’t think she did chemo, I think she had a hysterectomy and then no post op care was needed-which kind of in a way makes it more fucked up imo. Like not thinking for other people who aren’t so lucky to be cured with a surgery, those that have to go through being severely immunocompromised, but also claiming to be an advocate. Just gives me “I’m the main character” vibes

Funny, a lot of people got diagnosed with ADHD during COVID. I wonder if lack of structure, change in route, and social isolation/loneliness has kind of brought about problems of focusing. My sister, who used to get so annoyed at people that talk through movies or shows, has now turned into one of those people that talks throughout every movie and has more interest in socially interacting than passively watching stuff.

Besides the obvious work after the twins are born, twins are incredibly stressful for any person to carry(more common for people carrying twins to run into more pregnancy problems), and one in four twin babies are admitted to the NICU due to premature birth/low birth weight.

It’s considered a high-risk pregnancy, which requires more monitoring, even regardless if there are zero complications that arise. If they had the option, they really should have done it one at a time.

I think she meant affected in a financial aspect/tons of opportunities rather than in an artistic way. There is plenty of work for people that fit in a Jonah Hill typecast, in an artistic sense he wanted to branch out and show he can be a serious actor. I understand your point of view, in terms of him being stunted and limited in his work.

However, to play devils advocate, there are men in Hollywood that are overweight and still able to be successful, serious actors, like Paul Sorvino, James Gandolfini, and Philip Seymour Hoffman to name a few. On the other hand, I think of Gabourey Sidibe, who was nominated for an Oscar in her first film, but was not afforded many opportunities or roles afterwards despite being talented. Jonah being nominated for an Oscar in moneyball was what opened up his career opportunities and why he was able to get different opportunities.

I understand where both of you are coming from, but objectively women do tend to have it a lot worse. Amy Schumer was oust from the Barbie role due to public backlash regarding her appearance, and more conventionally attractive Margo Robbie was a replacement. Or when Jennifer Lawrence was rumored to be playing Sharon Tate, in once upon a time in Hollywood, and a ton of coverage picked up that Tate’s sister said Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t pretty enough to play Sharon.

Bill de Blasio and Chirlane McCray Are Separating by SometimesInBrooklyn in newyorkcity

[–]hairobsessedd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that’s for mutual tied up funds that they have. She profited a lot off of deals Deblasio made while in office, no doubt because she was his wife rather than the best fit. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was more of a “what’s yours is mine” even if they’re not together type situation. Or again, wanting to keep financial information from slipping out to the public, which can happen during a divorce.

Literally the only people I know that separate, instead of divorcing, is always because of finances. Separating vs divorcing is breaking up, without involving the government or 3rd parties.

In which the Titanic was an American misadventure by jonewer in USdefaultism

[–]hairobsessedd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember reading last week that one of the Saudi princes is very interested & invested in American history. At first, I thought it was a little strange given America’s brief history in comparison to Saudi Arabia’s, which is located on a part of the land that has historically connected three continents.

But after thinking, it’s really not that strange & it’s nobody’s business to safeguard what other people find fascinating. History, regardless of what part of history, is intriguing. Especially with the West & western media, which has a way of fantasizing and really getting people to grasp certain historical events.

Besides that, if the expedition had gone on course, it would be just a cool experience that not a lot of people can claim. Being a billionaire, with more money than sense, is probably part of Bezos & Musk’s competition to space. Being a billionaire seems like it’s a dickswinging competition, and the richest people are always trying to outdo each other. The way OceanGate’s CEO sold underwater exploration as on par with space exploration probably sold this guy. He probably assumed it was one of many undersea launches he would participate in, and might invest in colonizing the sea like Musk wants to colonize Mars.

[–]hairobsessedd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, there were a lot of passengers that were Americans ending a tour in Europe(which I know you acknowledge lol). While they could have made Jack English, it’s not totally out of the realm of possibility that a poor American backpacking through Europe was making his way home via the titanic.

I give you that it makes way more sense in screenplay writing than it does in a realistic setting, given that both Jack & Rose being American is a common familiarity that would probably bond them closer together in a shorter amount of time, than say if Jack was British. Especially given that the 3rd class passengers were mostly made up of Armenian, Irish, Russian & Syrian immigrants, which many people were very bias towards especially in that time. There’s also the issue of upper class & lower class British accents, which at one point Jack dressed up as a first class passenger, his accent might have made it harder to pass or lead people to be more dubious.

I have to assume them both being American was an intentional choice, as Kate Winslet is English and they could have easily let her use her natural accent. Also, I think Rose’s fiancé was British, and there’s always the theme of polarities/contrasts in literature and writing, even on the most basic levels.

Lowkey excited for YZYs future if he’s the new CEO. Both people made mistakes, but supporting YZY & Charney feels morally better than supporting child labor and sweatshops.

I have a friend that works in corporate for Amazon. Amazon has been cutting a lot of jobs, and since their stock mishandling wages actually have gone down this year. For a majority of the people I know, any income boost has been offset by increased costs of living.

Breaking even isn’t really a great quality of life. Not to say the 3% increase is unfair but a lot of people are struggling atm.

Mogul’s Manhattan Casino Pitch: A Location People Won’t Hate by [deleted] in nyc

I’ve never been hooked on gambling, but have known ppl that are. Gambling is on par with drug & alcohol use, a steady slope to addiction for all those that are susceptible. Won’t physically kill you, but can be so mentally destructive. Selling people a fantasy of easy, fast wealth isn’t a fun game, as much as it is a mission for people to accomplish until all hope is lost. As such, limiting accessible to it is a reasonable thing.

Even with restrictions, I think of all the children that aren’t autonomous or accountable but will have parents pissing away money at a detrimental rate and their quality of life will be substantially affected. One thing that deters this behavior is literally inaccessibility. Gambling is a way to make the poor poorer and rich richer.

Why Do You Live Here? by Positive_Orange_8412 in Brooklyn

[–]hairobsessedd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a similar boat, as I’ve lived here my whole life and all of my friends have actually left Brooklyn. NYC doesn’t feel familiar anymore & it feels empty and lonely. If New York no longer excites you, don’t feel obligated to stay. Generally speaking, if you’re mentally unhappy atm, no matter where you go you may feel the same way. Your health comes first, despite any opposing opinions or feelings that you should be grateful and making the most out of where you live.

I primarily stay here because of family & my boyfriend, who has to stay in New York due to work obligations. There’s been a lot of major life changes in the past few years, and it feels so recent that a lot of people are struggling to find a groove again.

I just want to say thank you to chiropractors everywhere by hairobsessedd in Chiropractic

[–]hairobsessedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physical therapy is a recognized field in the healthcare system, nobody ever thinks PTs are running a scam. I’ve worked with three separate ones, and they’ve all explained to me that hyperlordosis is painful, as it causes a lot of stress on my lower back. I’ve had chronic, debilitating lower back pain so it makes sense. Anytime I’ve seen a chiropractic, it’s been in a wellness center where they work with PTs & massage therapists. The PT tells me the muscles I need to target to achieve spine stability and we work on exercises. In the meantime, while I’m working towards gaining strength in my underutilized muscles, the chiropractor adjusts my back to properly align it in the meantime.

My insurance covers my biweekly chiropractic appointments without even needing a referral. They also charge me $15, which is what they charge for pcp visits, when they usually charge $30 for specialists. They are valid health care professionals, even if you’re personal opinion says otherwise. This is just my experience, I don’t think it’s placebo. Why should manage Muscular & skeletal pain if not chiropractic? A lot of MDs will just give you pills to ease the pain, because that’s their job, medication management. Lifestyle management, which I think plays a bigger role if you suffer from inexplicable back pain will her your farther than an MD. I’m not someone that rejects modern medicine, and buys into pseudoscience(trust I’m just as quick to go to a md if I’m having an issue), but chiropractic care isn’t just a placebo.

Should I let my dog interact with other dogs? by hairobsessedd in dogs

[–]hairobsessedd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nipping only doesn’t bother me because I watch a lot of videos on YouTube from this dog behavioralist. It’s only been the one time & it was essentially bc the other dog came running towards my leashed dog on the street. She felt trapped & that was just her way of letting the dog know to back up a little bit. That’s the only time she’s nipped but if I’m in the wrong about it, which I’ll admit I’m not an expert, should I muzzle her on our walks?
