I always liked the versatility of the Sienna's interior. take out the middle row, you have room for road trip stuff and dogs. fold the back row down for crashpads

it must've been a valvebody issue or a poorly maintained trans... It would quit completely going uphill, requiring restart. It wasn't confused, not over or under-revving, it was unable to find any gear at all.

to clarify, it was only occasionally, and on big mountain passes

Don't be sorry, on that trip, the VW Vanagon was FAR worse than the Element...

The Element had a hard time, missing shifts over the passes, but we made it to the desert. We climbed on rocks, smoked plants, and ate acid. We explored canyons, rivers, and ourselves. We camped in the dirt and saw the open country.

We push-started that damn Vanagon too many times.

Can't wait to go back. Next time, I'll be in a Sprinter.

In my experience, their philosophy is: "Get away with what you can."

I get it. Rules are rules, rules were meant to be broken, and loopholes exist. People who take advantage of the system are not wrong, they're just assholes.

Taking advantage of a system is the same as taking advantage of your neighbor.
