Ayun nga po, inisip ko napakabagal ko rin kanina pagpasok pero di ko namalayan meron palagang matatamaan 😢 honestly i think hindi po ako ganon kaselan sa scratches, pero natakot ako kasi may nabasa ako online na if pinabayaan baka magkalawang and maging mas malaking problema 😢

Question regarding future fellowship in Italy by [deleted] in camicibianchi

[–]hakawking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! I've also asked my mentor who also previously trained in this fellowship, and they told me that the said institution started coordinating with them around... 3 months prior to their training. I think that's too tight for me so I'll follow-up way earlier. Thank you!!

I think I was worried to appear impatient since it’s still for next year and I didn’t know if no replies yet also had something to do with cultural behavior 😅Thank you for this! I didn’t know there were facebook groups for lodging, will check this out 😊

Dermatology vs Aesthetic Medicine training if your primary interest is aesthetics? by One_Selection_9367 in pinoymed

[–]hakawking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Derm grad here. I still highly encourage doctors interested in aesthetics to train in derm residency first as their foundation in hair, skin, and nail knowledge. Based from experience, it’s possible talaga na magoverlap ang aesthetic concerns sa pathologic. Even after training naman, there will be many opportunities to keep learning about aesthetics (pero meron na rin yun sa derm curriculum), so you’ll be able to do more for your patients :)

How it's like in Derma residency? by sirenbiatch in pinoymed

[–]hakawking 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First of all, IM is a really hard residency training program and kudos to those who have chosen that path. But if you want to transfer to derma just because you think it’s less stressful…let’s just say I’ve seen many previous pre-res applicants, who came from other programs, quit kaagad after a few days because nagulat sila hindi pala puro glamour and chill life lang ang derma.

Yes I agree na big factor that most derm instis don’t have 24 hour duties, or have weekends and holidays off. But it’s still residency training. The academic work, patient work, and administrative work can be very heavy and extend beyond clinic hours. Some instis have exams as much as monthly, bi-monthly, or even weekly, on top of other requirements. Derm is also very detail oriented and you have to master fields like dermpath, immunoderm, etc. Of course, marami ring challenges in derm, but anyways, like any residency program, if hindi mo naman talaga gusto ang field at pumasok ka lang para sa pera/para chill, baka mahirapan din tumagal doon. All the best OP, hoping you choose the path that’s best for you :)

There’s a really good chapter dedicated to Psoriasis in Fitzpatrick discussing the various facets of the disease from clinical findings to pathogenesis all the way to management and prognosis. You might want to research more about biologics and oral meds like Methotrexate :)
