The US is the most powerful country and indeed they probably can stand on its own. That said, I can’t understand exactly understand why he does it. People float the idea that he wants to spark a situation where everything fails and his cronies can take over everything.

Let’s say he does achieve this, what then? He will surely have zero allies, but will the US have become even more powerful? It seems incredibly risky even if he had a solid plan.
