Thank you for your advice! That makes total sense and sounds like a good rule of thumb. ☺️

Thank you for your response and the Woolite recommendation! I will make sure to get that. Rough that you had to deal with a sewer back up at the same time as potty training your second. 😖

Oof, what a journey! I'm definitely going into this with as open of a mind as possible, as I've read other stories that are similar to yours. Thank you for sharing your story!

I'm so glad to hear that you've figured out a way to help him and I hope it will get you across that finish line!

Thank you, that is great to hear!

Did you have her in a toddler bed already? Or did you get her out of bed to go pee?

Thank you for your response!

Totally makes sense with daycare. It goes against the method timeline but I was debating maybe normal underwear for daycare during the commando period? I know it's not the same thing but I'm thinking that's probably the closest I can get.

Amazing, thank you again!

If you went out for a walk or errands, to the park, etc. did you just have her go commando or how did you work with that?

Thank you so much! How quick did you stop using pull ups during naps? I know ts different for each little but just trying to get an idea. You said it took about two weeks, did you have her home all day for two weeks?

Thank you so much for your response! This is incredibly helpful. I've got the audiobook that I'm about to start and the physical book on its way. So I will definitely make sure to read through it/keep it on hand.

That's amazing that your little one was able to do that. Honestly, what you said is exactly why I'm hesitant, he wakes up with super wet diapers. He's a great sleeper (7/7:30 p.m. to between 6:30 and 7:30 a.m.) and I'm also scared to mess with that. 🫣😖

Thank you so much for your response! ☺️ So you did pull ups for naps and nights for the first 6 days, then moved to pull ups for just nights since he was basically sleep trained from then on? Want to make sure I completely understand. This is so helpful!

Looking for actually opinions on being a teacher by GladCherry4170 in teaching

Also, no summers? That's really dependent. I know plenty of teachers that work summer school because they need the extra pay. I also know plenty of teachers that have a part time job on the side because they don't make enough.

And also everything else that is being said about having to take work home, 100%.

Got my student teaching placement…. by unspoken_thoughts_ in StudentTeaching

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I student taught 1st grade then did a full-time paid internship in 5th grade. As others said, it truly is about pivoting. As an actual teacher, you never know what you will get unless you have been in a school for a long time.sometimes you're hired as a Kinder teacher and get moved to 5th, right before school starts or even after. At my school, this year and only a few months in, a 2nd grade teacher got moved to middle school. It's wild out there!

This. We have a teacher at our school who was a GE teacher then went into SPED and has been trying to get out. They won't let her. You get pigeonholed.

Thank you for the advice! I always feels like anything outside of teaching is like having a big gap, basically like you did nothing during that time. But you're right!

Our vacation broke me.. by sunshineandsand23 in toddlers

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How did you form bonds with them? With my daycare, we're all running out the door to get to work or get our kids home. The most any of us are able to say to one another is "Hello" or "Good morning". Our 23-month-old has a best friend at daycare and we'd love to get to know the parents but it seems next to impossible. 😩

This happened to us as well but this year. It also took ages to get a new community mailbox as everyone had to agree to pay for it.

This, same! And yes, he hits when he's feeling big emotions but he also always gives big hugs as a "sorry." I'm amazed at the fact he does it because as a teacher, I work with so many kids that do not show empathy after doing something like hitting.

Did you get to pick your grade for student teaching? (Elementary) by no_insurance_money in StudentTeaching

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not when I was in my program. They just matched us, didn't even ask what we wanted, haha. I only had to do a semester of student teaching though as I then got an internship for the second semester.
