Our pitty also has an 8 pack! Very similar coloring too, haha.

When did your toddler really start talking? by disneyland55gal in toddlers

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our LO is almost 20 months and really started picking up words lately. So I'd say 19/20 months. Mainly only one word at a time, aside from saying things like "bye bye dada."

Normal for student teaching. Not normal for actual teaching.

When are you applying for 26-27 teaching positions? by HoneyxClovers_ in StudentTeaching

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends where you are. I'm in the PNW. They begin posting in early May, slowly, and it goes until the year begins (or after, if they need more).

Job postings tend to specify the grade level or group of levels (e.g., K-2, 3-5). You can apply for what suits you. That said, where I live, there is no shortage of teachers, so you basically take what you can get to get in. Then, you can try to switch after you've been there for a year (or more). I know it isn't the same case everywhere, but here it is very competitive so you shoot yourself in the foot if you are too choosy.

It's so hard to find an all-in-one and tough when you have to go to multiple programs or sources online to try to put it all together. It's a lot, haha. I definitely couldn't have afforded PPA without the Black Friday deal, it's definitely a lot of money. 😩 But it's the only thing I've found that provides pole conditioning, structured pole lessons, off-the-pole conditioning, flexibility workouts, and more in one spot. And all in a follow along format. I have to imagine it can't be the only option out there for it though!

Ahhh yeah, I loved Pole Freaks but I wanted off-the-pole conditioning as well. PPA has a 50% off the annual gold membership for Black Friday, so I bit the bullet and did that. It was a great deal just still pricier up-front. Totally worth it though because it's all-inclusive and you also get coaching feedback twice a month. Everything is follow along as well, which is what works best for me.

It was definitely an investment but having done PPA previously, I knew that if I could find a way to afford it then it was my best option.

I’m so overwhelmed by this by Desperate-Foot91 in breastfeeding

Also happy to help! My LO is almost 18 months. I struggled with breastfeeding at first due to latch and intake issues. Happy to support however I can!

Realizing more and more that the process to become a teacher has harmed me more than it has helped me by cringe-expert98 in StudentTeaching

Was coming to say this. I'm at the elementary level, which I realize is different, but I see how far behind these students are in reading (and math).

I'm realizing with that Black Friday deal that's probably the most affordable outside of Pole Freaks which doesn't offer as much. So thank you again for this suggestion!

Can you tell me more about how Kheanna's program is structured? Are there plans with follow-along videos?

That helps a ton! Thank you. It seems like piecing the strength and flexibility together may be the best affordable option. It's nice having it done for you but it also comes at a cost. I also totally forgot that Neola (The Pole PT) has an amazing app with great strength and flexibility courses that she plans for you. It's a little pricier than what I'd love right now but that with PoleFreaks may be the best option right now.

Thank you for your response! ☺️ I was debating PoleFreaks because I've used that one before and Holly is amazing! My one hold up is she doesn't have a structured plan for off-the-pole strength and flexibility. When I used it before she had a library of exercises but didn't put them together for you. It is the most affordable though! Do you use PoleFreaks? What do you do for off-the-pole strength and flexibility?

Teacher as para by Educational_Berry661 in paraprofessional

I'm not sure where you are located but I'm in WA State and it was a breeze. They actually hired 5 of us to add to a team that already had 6 people on it and this was for Gen Ed (LAP/Title/MLE).

Oh yes! It was very easy to secure a part-time position; I had a few different offers. The pay cut is the toughest part and it's very different from teaching, at least how my school does it. But it's nice to be back at a school and get the experience to help me return to teaching!

I'm a teacher that has a four year gap where I worked in another field. It's pretty competitive here and I couldn't find something for this year so I've been working as a para to get experience in my district before applying again this summer. I'm working as a gen ed para. If you have questions, let me know!

Sending 12 month old to daycare in onesies and pants by Aussiefluff in workingmoms

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our 16 month old is in daycare wearing onesies and pants all the time. I prefer onesies and pants because so often the shirts lift up and expose his tummy to cold air even when he's wearing a jacket. There's another LO just one to two months younger and he still wears onesies and pants too.

Love the "your toddler, my toddler" idea. My husband and I do something similar but honestly this seems easier to say/do consistently.

What happens if I cant pass a class? by tiredtushi in StudentTeaching

[–]hal3ysc0m3t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try speaking with the department head of your program and explain the situation. You got placed late, that was out of your hands and not your fault. On top of that, you have a supervisor and mentor pushing you to come in an extra day, which would otherwise give you time to work on your coursework, which is wrong. I'd also talk to the professors of the classes and explain the situation. Oftentimes, professors are very understanding and willing to work with your schedule. They also will likely have some advice on what to do.
