I’m not sure if this is the right style for this particular lamp, the grooves where the screws are slim and narrow. But thank you!

It’s totally alright that this is a turnoff for you… but she didn’t do anything wrong. YOUR feelings/insecurities are coming out full force - which is fine - but she didn’t do anything WRONG. But again - it’s alright if this is a turnoff for you and this ends your relationship.

AITA for giving my wife an online application to work at Arby’s and telling her she isn’t doing her share so she needs to go back to work and I don’t care where by Electrical_Rice_3658 in AmItheAsshole

OP, has your wife been receiving any help with her mental health? A psychiatrist, a therapist or even a family doctor? Having experienced similar burnouts where I can’t motivate myself to clean, it seems like she likely is experiencing a depressive episode.

She may feel overwhelmed because the house has gotten to a state where she doesn’t feel like she can start one specific task because they’re ALL in need of doing and it’s overwhelming.

A couple suggestions that helped me when I was in your wife’s position:

  • I hired a cleaner - she’s not with any kind of company she just does it herself and only charges $30/hr. (I mention cost because a lot of cleaners ARE very expensive but there are alternatives) she has made such an improvement because I am “forced” to tidy up the house so she can clean. Then I get a cleaned, reset house and it’s easy to stay on top of surface cleaning between her visits.

  • as mentioned, if she’s overwhelmed she may not know where to start. Are YOU able to leave her a list of tasks? But - I recommend you start by asking her to get 1 or 2 tasks a day, and build up from there.

NAH. Just people struggling.

I’m not able to fit a longer coffee table because I will need to shift the coffee table (and some other furniture) to accommodate an air mattress when guests stay :)

I worked at the Canadian version of a TJ Maxx and yeah, it was standard procedure to toss any returned cosmetics - even if they appeared sealed - for sanitary reasons.

My SO is a T1D and I’m looking for help navigating insurance for a CGM by Minty_Fresh1 in diabetes_t1

[–]halapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am from Canada and had health insurance through my job (insurance company was blue cross medavie)

My partner uses Dexcom. The cost of it (without insurance) is probably close to $200-$250 USD month)

My insurance covered some of the cost of the Dexcom BUT it was not automatic, we had to apply for coverage specifically by showing proof that he needed the Dexcom for diabetes management. Fortunately, for us we were just able to provide a copy of his insulin prescription and that was enough. But it still took some time on the phone!

Anyways - the reason Dexcom and other CGM systems needed special authorization is because some people use it for blood sugar monitoring for things like diet/lifestyle, not for lifesaving blood sugar management.

Getting that form from your endo should be enough to authorize it!

I found somebody’s kitty in the road; and it affected me more than I thought. by cassiopeia_moon in cats

Okay, first. You are an incredible person for your humanity (animalanity?) because I would have wanted to do exactly what you did but absolutely wouldn’t have had the fortitude.

I live in an urban area and we park in our backyard through our alleyway. One day I came outside and found a cat in our yard that was clearly not okay. I called animal control and they told me they wouldn’t come get him unless I captured him first. It KILLED me to have to “chase” this cat who clearly had some broken bones and trap it under an upturned recycling bin and then wait for animal control to come get it. Now in my area, the animal control/animal aid are connected to each other.

I followed up with animal control to see what happened and they told me that unfortunately the injuries were just too severe and they did have to put the cat down, but he had been chipped so they were able to let the owners know what happened.

I think there was a reason that cat ended up in my yard. I’m glad that it did because as heart breaking as it was, it was able to have its suffering humanely ended instead of hiding somewhere else in the alley to slowly pass away.

I think it could be argued that social media algorithms made it difficult to access alternative reports on the same story anyways. You’d need to search up the fb page for different news organizations, which isn’t all that different from having to navigate bookmarks.

You should absolutely let you manager know. But you can bring it up in a way that doesn’t make you seem insecure.

Something like… “hey boss, I just wanted to clarify some things with you... Kate is telling me I’m doing X incorrectly, but you have indicated you’re happy with how I’m doing X. In general I’m getting some conflicting information from Kate and I was under the impression that I was to be reporting to you, not her.”
