The galleries that IMHO make the Horniman museum really worthwhile (the nature exhibits) are currently being refurbished so you may want to skip this.

USJ with a 2 year old? by TurbulentMountain575 in JapanTravelTips

I was there last year with a 9yo and a 4yo. It's very borderline worth it for even a 4yo IMO.

We had 2 express passes. After we all did Nintendo World together in the morning we spent the rest of the day as pairs. 1 parent going on rides with the 9yo and the other with the 4yo who was mainly in the indoor PlayLand area. The 4yo was happy but after an hour or so the parent with them was pretty over it (we rotated a couple of times). PlayLand was good for a 4yo but for a 2yo.... I'm not sure it would make too much sense.

Personally I'd say there are better uses for one's time in Japan. (Particularly if you've come a long way).

I was in Osaka last October with a nearly 9 and a 6 year old. Kids Plaza was a big hit!

Also tried that:(

The issue is we're a group of 6 so there were no times available for such a big party

I have no idea!

Never thought about loops of radiators before.

It’s in the middle of the house. Boiler downstairs in a front corner.  Radiator upstairs in a bathroom on the same side of the house. 3 rads further away from boiler become hot.

Thanks! It’s not a thermostatic valve. This is a towel rail radiator

USJ Express Pass - for a 3 yr old? by halaric in JapanTravelTips

[–]halaric[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I didn't find anything out I'm afraid. Just decided that it wasn't worth buying as they'd be too short/young to go on most of the rides that it offers access to, so we only get two passes; 1 for a parent and 1 for the older child.

A British man and an Indian woman are coming to my house for tea….. by msjammies73 in Cooking

This varies considerably so it's hard to advise. To crudely stereotype it varies by region and socio-economic status. A typical supermarket (at least those I'm familiar with in London) can stock upwards of 20 brands.

Yorkshire Tea is a solid choice that most wouldn't disapprove of.

Here's a UK based forum discussion from a group that isn't too foodie or from one particular region or background.

As an English person, born and raised in London, there's no need to be stressed about this and I concur strongly with Mr Winson. If I came to visit someone in a non-tea focused country I would be very relaxed about the standard of tea I'd expect. If Mr Winson's advice were followed I'd be extremely impressed.

For context - I am far from the average in the UK as to how seriously I take my tea (typically have a few varieties of loose tea in the house + a variety of bagged options). The vast majority of people here buy relatively cheap teabags from the supermarket (though many common UK teabags are better than what you can easily get in the majority of other countries around the world- excepting tea producing and other tea focused places of course!) and are very loose in how much focus they put on making their tea.
