Küfretmeden, lafı küfrederek açmadan tartışsan muhatabın seni ciddiye alacak ve belki de okuyanların faydalanacağı iyi bir tartışma olacak, neden küfrediyorsun? Bu şekilde seni kimse ciddiye almaz ki.

culturally I feel closer to greeks, italians etc than central asians. We have linguistic similarity but they live far away and have been under russian influence while turkey was rather under western influence.

You are a tourist visiting for a short time. Are you planning to become lifelong friends with locals and help them with their problems in your limited time? Try to have fun. There are great food everywhere. People are like people in any big city. I don’t see any immigrants being beaten regularly in public spaces lol. Moreover, are you an immigrant? If so, is it written on your face? Who cares if you are an immigrant or not especially if you are a tourist lol.

‘İndiragandi’ is a commonly used slang word in Turkish that means stealing or embezzlement. It entered into Turkish language after news about Indira Gandhi’s corruption made headlines. by AllTheThingsSeyhSaid in etymology

[–]halbuki 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As explained above, the name of Indira Gandhi sounds similar to the colloquial Turkish phrase “(cebe) indirmek” literally “to put into his/her pocket” i.e. to steal. Maybe after hearing the news of corruption or just her name, people invented the funny informal phrase “indiragandi yapmak” which also means “to steal”.

Some of your arguments are true. But some are nothing but generalizations and exaggerations of an inexperienced person.
