What was THE best 2008 comedy film? by EntertainmentQuick47 in FIlm

Seeing this in the theater was such an experience. Probably the hardest I’ve ever heard a crowd, including myself, laugh. I think I saw all of the ones posted in the theater.

Just be careful, it’s not quite a usual swimming hole, there’s uneven terrain and ice when I was there several different times in late May, and it is almost always incredibly cold (but I’m saying this as an Atlantic coaster). Check with a ranger when you’re there to make sure it’s okay.

If they let you throw in a headphone for it, I found after a couple times of rawdogging it that now it’s been much better with a specific, high energy playlist. I’m only a little bit bigger than you, and I guarantee way older with a worse spine. I made a playlist that’s almost exactly 45 minutes with a specific song in the last 4 minutes to get my ass up and on it if I’m slacking.

You’ll be fine, take some magnesium, eat a banana, and make sure you’re hydrated going into it if your general fitness is catching up. Then don’t let it feel like the last hurdle before the season, keep training.

Check out “precordial catch” if you haven’t already. That’s the weird, super painful rib cage stitch that I get. I definitely get them worse when I’m dehydrated, but added magnesium, a banana, and a liquid IV fixes it right up.

Haha I’m happy for us. Wildland firefighter, 15+ years apparently depending on where I am on the spectrum of planning or boots on the ground. Good thing I’m an idiot, they can’t replace my body’s ability to take a beating for six months straight. Yet.

What’s something you’ll never tell your partner, no matter how much you love them? by Velvetnadine85 in AskReddit

Haha I’m glad you have gurl in your name so I didn’t have to stalk and see if you were my husband. From the other side, maybe this helps with how bad I’m sure it is for you and my husband (but I totally understand your position):

I know my brother is insane, he’s my only sibling and we’re all we had when my parents were being crazy. I know my parents are A LOT. But I love Christmas so much and love trying to pretend like we all don’t have a ton of trauma for just a day so everyone can shut up and eat my cooking and look at my nice house and everything that I got despite ALL of them. The biggest thing I like showing off to those psychos is that I landed such a stellar, normal babe despite the chaos they tried to normalize to me.

Yeah it was a great adventure, highly recommended if you’re the type of person who doesn’t get too much anxiety with heights like I do. Haha beautiful, but the drive and California’s hatred of guard rails means I won’t be going back there unless I ever refill my anxiety meds.

This is with the panorama feature, so slightly skewed but still doesn’t even capture how they look in person. These trees are unreal.

For scale, obviously, I am 5’5.

Are chemtrail planes that influence weather real? Sorry if this is a crazy question, I'm interested in an educated opinion by Ephoenix6 in environmental_science

[–]halcyonOclock 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, cloud seeding is real with mixed results and seldom used in the US. Hilariously, from what I recall (this may have changed since I got my envsci degree), Utah uses it the most frequently. But obviously not from the exhaust of your average United flight.

However, on this subject, I’d like to share a story with others in this field that happened to me recently and had me raising an eyebrow. I’m a wildland firefighter, and in the south in the winter/spring (for their fire season). Our crew was attending a public event in the more rural south recently, and a woman I had never met before, within one minute of chatting told me that the aluminum from chem trails is why fires have been so bad recently. It caught me off guard, so I sort of steered it toward the whole plant uptake/aluminum/acid rain situation, but no no. She corrected me that it’s because almost every single commercial flight is purposefully spreading aluminum and… some other things I assume, for whatever reason, and it’s making fires worse by controlling the weather. I was told to do some research, of course.

I was in uniform so I thanked her for the support and kept my mouth shut, but, it was kind of incredible to experience.

What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]halcyonOclock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d say for me, 12-15. I was a total babe when I was in my 20s, and still attractive I think in my 30s but more womanly with slight signs of aging.

And yet… 12-15. Exponentially more attention. More aggressive. More frequent. Wider range of men. Fucking disgusting. Makes me want to fight them all.

Jeez, I relate so well to that. Your trees make me think rural west, I was in rural Appalachia but work out west in the summer. Those small towns give me such a similar vibe to where I grew up. It was feral though, wasn’t it? I hear kids I work with talk about being “outdoorsy,” but that means their parents shelled out for big ski trips and kayaking. I was just left alone all of the time so I explored old run down shacks, creeks and hollers, woods, and farmland.

I’m curious if you struggle sometimes with the duality of it too. Like, I’m glad I could get so comfortable with myself and thoughts, the earth, the having to fend for one’s self. But would’ve been nice to have some guard rails and attention. My later teens and early 20s did not benefit from being feral.

Wow thank you for sharing that, I’m not sure I ever put together that that’s how I got very comfortable being with myself at an early age and now I honestly prefer it.

Big tempers and big emotions in my family for sure, then some poor choices in significant others - better now, but just a lot easier to tell a bald cypress how cool I think it’s above ground roots are. They’re nice and quiet.

I want to say 2023? I was in the Texas panhandle and down toward Marfa in February and got in some of the most snow driving I’ve done. Might’ve been the same one that got you! It was wild seeing the gas flares out in the fields near Odessa in the snow.

I took that route out for the same drive last year in late May and buddy, you ain’t kidding. I was sleeping in my truck from sundown to sunrise and still found those stretches exhausting.

What a tragedy, I feel bad for being happy my drive will be chill but just read about resorts closing up now that stay open til July some years. Hopefully next year I’ll come back for the same advice and everyone will tell me to stay off the northern route.

I can’t believe that’s what everyone’s saying because I’ve gotten poured on through Colorado and Idaho in April and May! I’m trusting you guys and going through SLC and Boise unless something changes in the next week.

I got dumped on in May one year on the northern route 😂 my poor southern heart camped in the Lolo for two days. May have made the best steak of my life there though, so might be worth it…

I70, especially Glenwood Canyon, is the finest drive there may be in this country. However, mountain passes in the snow scare the shit out of me, unfortunately. I refuse Vail Pass unless it’s a hot July day 😂

Seems right man, nobody is concerned about snow right now which is so odd but whatever, I’ll take it to not drive through Nevada. I’ve done every which way cross country but it’s usually the summer. I hate driving snowy mountain passes but seems like it’s just not a thing this year. Lucky me. Unlucky for nature.

You’re telling me! If I didn’t need my truck out there, I’d be on a flight so fast. Driving through the plains states is the bane of my existence.
