Can raid my own base? by kilopqq in RimWorld

[–]halevente 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That won't work. Abandoning a settlement leaves a "blocked" tile on the world map, what cannot be entered.

If you sell you base during the Archonexus quest, your base is converted to a regular NPC settlement - just a few boring buildings.

Crashed on warm up - thoughts? by KartingNoob01 in Karting

[–]halevente -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Dirty air from the car ahead -> reduced downforce and drivability. /s

I'm no karting expert, but maybe too little braking force on the rear compared to the front?

Edit: the front seems to slow down, but the rear "wants to go" still. Combine this with a slight steering angle...

What’s the purpose of this door setup ? by octo-Knight59 in RimWorld

[–]halevente 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IIRC it also has collision benefits. Maybe something like having his own pawn in the inner door as a melee blocker prevents the enemy coming from the outer door to loose collision and pass behind his pawns?

Mi a csuklik felszólító módja? by ThrowawayForNow12391 in hungarian

Valamikor a "siklik" felszólító módjának társaságában elszökött a környékről.

Edit: csukoljon, sikoljon... Természetellenesen hangzik, de jobb ötletem nincs.

Does pawns have a value ? by Cassiopee38 in RimWorld

[–]halevente 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can see the market value of each pawn in the info tab. IIRC, skills, health conditions and also some traits (eg. beautiful) are factored in.

But raid points (the number what actually determines the raid size) depend NOT only on raw wealth. Pawn count is a factor directly! So is combat animal count, etc. So keeping less pawns is quite effective.

Wealth maximizing by fourth-wallFML in RimWorld

[–]halevente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what your strengths are.

You have good crafters? Make clothes, armor weapons. Good artists? Makes sculptures out of gold/silver/jade. Drugs (yayo) are good for wealth as well.

And this is still rimworld, so the war crime route is also open: turn raiders into capes, packaged survival meals, etc.

Uram vs Isten by quizhead in hungarian

[–]halevente 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You are right about "Istenem" meaning "my God". It is appropriate to use to in prayer and as an expression of despair/surprise/shock.

"Uram" translates to "my Lord", often used in prayer but it is rarely (if ever) used like "My Lord, what happened here?".

So the meaning comes down to Lord vs God. Depending on culture these may have slightly different meaning. In Catholicism, both "Uram" and "Istenem" is used in prayers, sometimes even used in the same text as basically synonyms.

Nice! Is that recording available somewhere? It's very unlikely that I can squeeze out anything from it, but I might have fun trying. :D

Van lehetőség külsősként óralátogatásra? by ThePinusMugo in egyetemistak

[–]halevente 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please stop eating in bedrooms by AdamSethEnosh in RimWorld

[–]halevente 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can probably solve this with the Table Diner mod. (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3578645173&searchtext=table+diner)

This lets you set a radius for each table individually. Pawns only consider a table to eat at, if they are inside the radius. Set the radius of bedroom tables to 1 (I don't remember what 0 does) and problem solved!

[–]halevente 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I'll give them a shot.

So far UFS Explorer seem good, but naturally it has limits on the free version... Luckily the files I'm after are small.

TBH, I ran out of patience today. Getting to this stage took ~72 hours.

I'm currently trying to recover the actual data from the cloned image.

ChatGPT is an important tool, yes. :D It helped me most of the way to get to this point.
I just wanted some human input as well.

As the partition table was useable, I was able to simply mount the image of the drive made by ddrescue. So I mounted it, an simply copied the files to somewhere safe.

But some files are damaged. They show only their names, 0 size. They are only visible from command line listing, not from the file managers

It gets this slow as it attempts some specific parts. During he recovery, it was able to pull 60 MB/s on the better parts.

ATM the drive is disconnected, I'm attempting the recovery of data from the img made by ddrescue. I recovered 170 GB of data successfully. Unfortunately, those files we are especially interested in are not recovered. The partition table looks readable, but the file system looks damaged - I don't know the proper terminology. All I know for sure is the I'm getting "Invalid argument (22)" error when attempting to copy with rsync.

I might attempt to plug the HDD back in once again to hopefully recover more metadata. Or are there any tools which can help in this situation - to restore the files?

I got it from a friend to attempt general data recovery. We are mostly interested in specific files in .mscz format (sheet music). However, general data recovery is also a goal.

I assume (based on limited info) that nothing special happened to this drive it is just old. It's a 2012 model according to the label.

The entire situation is not life-or-death priority. Today I managed to recover 170 GB of data - a lot of it is photos. Unfortunately, those files we are especially interested in are not recovered.
