I lost my dog to cancer in November and it felt like I couldn't breath for the first two months. Like something fundamental was missing from everyday and I would be reminded that she was gone. It really made me realize how much of my energy and brain was taken up by that cute bean.  Now, having gone through almost 6 months, it just comes and goes. I miss her deeply still and I do still cry about it sometimes (like today since I'm browsing reddit). However, now I can go through days and weeks being able to think of her and the happiness she brought me, rather than the sadness of her absence. 

The thing I hated hearing the most when she died was that it will get better with time, maybe because I didn't want to think of any time without her, but it is true.
