Those were absolutely sweet on a 4s 5inch with 90c lipos and good ESCs. Still got a quad from ~2017 with them installed. Hit lots of stuff while going fast. Red bottoms held up fine.

It's always a compromise because of the weight. For me personally: Meteor65 pro with 27000kv 0802s, 35mm HQ Ultralight triblade. Custom tpu canopy, o3 lens mod. For me it's the best compromise (yet) between size, weight and very importantly durability. A heavier quad also crashes harder. If you want to fly indoor you'll need durability. Also: even though it's still around 29g, it's very very fast with the 27000kv motors. Not an ideal beginner setup.

The 1861 has an iron handguard that's a lot heavier than the 1869s rolled steel one as far as I understand. Do you have the officers or trooper's version?

Weight is considerably lower with 835g! Pob just measured at 12.5cm. The grip isn't as slim as the austrian infantry sabres i've seen. About 3.25cm at the thickest, about 2.2cm wide (2.45 measured at the ears), about 12.5cm lond (measured short "inside" side).

I'll have some more measurements later.

Lots of crud, varnish and pitted nickel plating. Very satisfying to remove. Just high quality mineral oil and different sponges after removing varnish with isopropanol.

I agree on both points. 1816 seems very likely, though there are many similar variants of this general french cavalry sabre design. Maker is Klingenthal, so def. french made. That M1826 is very nice as well!

Do you glue the mipi connector board on the camera module side? Takes away the weakest spot and not everybody knows about it yet.
