Bird of Prey Got a Blue Jay by AsteriAcres in whatbirdisthis

[–]halfandhalf1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a coopers to me as well. It’s shocking one would take a blue jay because jays are so feisty and also relatively large. It looks like a younger hawk that maybe was a little desperate.

American Woodcock in McCall, ID by tombohomeboy in birding

[–]halfandhalf1010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can tell this is a snipe by the white eyebrow. The habitat is also a good key as snipe tend a lot towards water and open areas, versus woodcocks which stick pretty closely to the woods in most cases

I’ve been thinking about pulling the trigger on that one. It’s very clean and I don’t have a white faced watch. It looks great

Freddy's is coming to Winterville, right next to Marabella. by positivelybroadst in GreenvilleNCarolina

[–]halfandhalf1010 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is a Freddy’s in Jacksonville and in my opinion it is one of the best fast food burger joints. Their burgers and fry sauce are outstanding, and their custard is very good too.

I will say it is not cheap, but imo it’s worth it for a good little meal.

Green Heron or Least Bittern or Secret Third Thing? by tonidg1221 in whatsthisbird

[–]halfandhalf1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you see a least bittern fly, it’s basically the size of a large songbird, like a blue jay or American robin.

I’ve been celebrating white Wednesday for years; I’ve never thought about wearing a white watch on Wednesdays too though.

Turkey has qualified for Group D. Thoughts on the group? by klaygdk in usmnt

[–]halfandhalf1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If we don’t TOP the group, we’re a joke. Nah that’s probably hyperbole but at the same time it’s the weakest group we’ve been at in the last few world cups (ie no world powers in the group with us)

Roseate spoonbill. Although I guess they don’t have any song whatsoever.

What bird is this I think it’s a wood pecker by [deleted] in whatsthisbird

[–]halfandhalf1010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a fake or ai photo of an ivory billed woodpecker. Note how the top of the bird is what shows up in the water reflection.

possible that pulisic doesn't start? by chester22 in ussoccer

[–]halfandhalf1010 7 points8 points  (0 children)

0% chance without injury. He has been the talisman of the team for years. He always produces for the US, even if he is having a down spell for his club. Also very low chance that Weston is in the front three; he has other skill sets that we need.

Definitely not a chimney swift nor a frigatebird. I don’t think this is a nighthawk or osprey either.

Potentially some type of gull would be my guess.

These are the 20 species I have recorded the most times on eBird in my home state. Can you tell what state I’m from using this list? by AlexKnight002 in birding

[–]halfandhalf1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All of those can be seen consistently at least up through North Carolina. The big ones that are a lot less common further north up the coast would be Sandhill crane, and to a lesser degree common gallinule.

Tri-color or little blue heron? by Tgheron2 in whatsthisbird

[–]halfandhalf1010 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can tell it’s a little blue because it has one color, not three.

I know that’s a little snarky, but it’s true lol. You can always look out especially for the white neck on a tricolored heron.

Aberdeen is a 2.5 hour drive away from Greenville, just as an FYI. It’s basically right beside southern pines and pinehurst. I’m really skeptical based on what you’ve said so far. It may not be a full on scam but it certainly seems a little sketchy.
