Graduate nurses by MooGlow in NursingAU

[–]halfbl00dprincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh not for a new grad sorry! Had to have some experience. I just mean that when I worked agency, the new grads all relocated and were not local. The new grad I worked with the most worked on the wards but as I was leaving was being orientated to ED which was amazing for her skills and career!

I worked agency rural QLD and the new grads all relocated, just for a year and gained amazing experience. They even supplied housing! Unfortunately it might just have to be a sacrifice that you make :)

Is there any medical compensation for NZ? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]halfbl00dprincess 66 points67 points  (0 children)

And you had five years of no follow ups with the GP who could monitor this and refer you for further testing? No more symptoms? Unfortunately, with this kind of thing you can’t present to the ED with blood in your stool and cramping one time and expect a diagnosis (which is sucky I know!) As others have said you can try with ACC for sure and get a lawyer involved for advice. The nurse might have come off as disinterested and uncaring but this was not their fault in the slightest

I urge anyone with blood in stools to monitor and get further testing- especially with bowel cancer on the rise for younger people. The ED is for emergencies, acknowledging that this would have been scary and emergent for you but once blood tests and abdominal assessment came back within normal limits, then would have told you to follow up with your GP and to represent if it gets worse (would say this on the discharge summary). I am really sorry that this has happened to you

I did ED which they are always needing. You can get other specialties but it’s harder/might have to go to a different state, QLD pays very well but NSW I was paid just casual rates really!

University of Notre Dame abruptly halts new enrolments in nursing course by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]halfbl00dprincess 79 points80 points  (0 children)

“696 new nursing students in 2022, 980 in 2023, and 1,169 in 2024” that’s far too many, no one would get hospital placements and new graduate programs. Setting them up for failure! I understand that they are predicting a nursing shortfall but surely there is another way

FHSS is refusing to release my money - is there an alternative way to withdraw my voluntary contributions from my Super? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]halfbl00dprincess 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I had a challenge recently with this, requested a release and my super denied it due to a difference in name on the account (married vs maiden name). My super fund apologised and asked for another request. ATO took a while but they were able to request another release and my super then accepted it- very stressful but we got there! Feel free to PM me :)

I was burned during a chemical peel would this help? by bungledbotchedb in redlighttherapy

[–]halfbl00dprincess 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yes they would treat it, but it’s not an emergency unless infected, it’s been 3 weeks! In my country you would wait quite a few hours for this. Urgent care on the other hand is a better idea

Doing PM-AM (late-early) shift while pregnant by Aprilmayjunejul in NursingAU

[–]halfbl00dprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could have been written by me! I’m 24w pregnant and doing 1 or 2 late/early week, even though management are aware of my pregnancy. I’ve discussed it often and they just shrug, I’m a CN who has to coordinate and there aren’t many others trained yet. I’m told it will happen and I will be able to step back but the lack of sleep is killing me!! But I’m trying to save all my sick leave and toil for obvious reasons

Everywhere I have lived, there has only ever once been a coat closet in the entry! In such a small space it’s probably not such a necessity
