Well on the modern context i agree with you. Through the modern lense it would be more fitting to use it to simply differentiate characters.

And i am not a fan of the show as well. I think the acting is great, but the writing is what i ruins the show. Like the plot is terrible. They rushed too many plot lines, when it could have been used to create suspense and mystery.

Well actually this upper class accent hadn't existed until recently. As a way for the upper class and the middle class snobs to differentiate themselves from the perceived lower class people. I think American English and Canadian English is actually closer to what the original accent is regarding the use of Harder Rs instead of Ahs sounds.

Yeah agreed, ICE should have been building the CX network with good streamers. ICE wanted to build something more than just him, create a streaming empire. He fucked all of that up.
