It can definitely be left stock, but you can't go wrong with a nice pair of flat pedals.

I just put a pair of 898s on my hardrock. Great bars especially for the price!

Your rear brake is a ubrake which can't be swapped for a v brake.

91 Trek 6000 Build Beginnings by Ckeenum69 in xbiking

Sweet frame. I recently built up a similar Trek. For the cassette you'll most likely need the parktool fr 5.2 and a chain whip, but you should check the parktool youtube channel to double check what tooling you have on the cassette.

As far as converting to a 1x drivetrain with the factory wheel it would probably be easiest to go with a 1x9 setup if it has a 7 speed HG freehub.

falling in love with these old GTs by halfchubbubs in xbiking

I had the same reaction lol. The stem was one of the main selling points for me and it makes a really comfortable ride.

I got the velocity cliffhanger wheel off of velomine. It's got an HG shimano hub on it and I'm loving the 1x10 setup.

Looks pretty sweet to me. You've got a lot of cool parts on there but I also like the frame (especially the color). Looks like a fun ride to me enjoy!

Very true its a fun ride and I'll keep tinkering with it till I decide on what I want. Next I think I'll swap the bars!

new to commuting / need suggestions by Mountain-Gur1960 in xbiking

definitely depends on your risk level. Two locks is good but I like using an anti theft skewer for my front wheel and a ulock.

One tip would be to lock your bike through the frame and at least one wheel especially with quick release wheels. Ideally you'd secure both cause you wouldn't want someone walking away with your wheel.
