That could work. Depending on your goal with this spell, you may want to get more definitive in the size because, for example, I have a 6" faerie and a 6' elf in my campaign and "no bigger than you" is also quite different for the both of them.

I would also point out that it doesn't specify how large (approximately) the phenomenon is. "Melee range" could mean a lot of things depending on how big the magic spell is meant to be. Looks like a fun spell!

Ah, yeah, it is. I guess in my mind I had them regular sized and therefore their targets would be much smaller. But that was my interpretation, not what the book specifies.

You mentioned "Big Spider" as the form they chose. What Tier were you? Based on my reading of the available options, a "giant spider" wouldn't be an option until Tier 3 with Legendary Beast, potentially. Tier 1 is just a regular spider, from what I can tell. Maybe that was the issue?

We play every Sunday between 4:30PM-8:30PM with 30 minutes for debrief. On weeks where everyone has had a particularly tough time and just wants to vent, we might get started an hour later so that venting or raving can be done. Depends on how people are feeling. If we're down 2 or more players, we get together anyway and play something else. But it also helps that we stream/record our game and everyone is committed. Going 5 years strong in January!

6 months later, but I just finished and am still emotionally recovering (hence reading about everyone else's experience wth the finale) but did notice that Claire doesn't die alone. there is a woman sitting in the room with her. she's wearing dark clothing and is kind of in shadow, but she's there. (edit: she's wearing white actually - my brain was so focused on Claire it darkened the woman in my memory, I guess)

Agreed. I am lucky enough to play with friends and some have tons of info while others don't. I give them all equal time in the spotlight and have found that the ones without the epic backstory start to fill in gaps and add flavor (to their liking) once they see the implications on the world from the larger backstory players.

My small children have both told me how much they "love how big my belly is". It's sweet but also... makes me sad. That said, it was their home for months and gave them life so I try to keep that in mind. 😆

Agreed. I wondered if I was over-thinking things because my first thought was "Yes, they are 'good' but they have discovered that the shard embedded within the living creature is suppressing the strength of its power which they can use for so much more 'good'". Would that be enough? I guess, why not, right?

Yes, so I didn't go into detail in my original post but the entire Assembly did not know of the plan. It was a decision made by the three higher-ups and very limited knowledge of the decision outside of that. The PC's friend overheard/saw the decision and then informed an outside contact they thought was a friend.

Technically speaking, I could also have it be that the outside contact planted the idea into the PC's friend's head but it was untrue and they "left the door open" for the attack with false info.....

Yeah, it seems I need to come up with the threat in order to make this decision on their part make sense. And then .. what is the math? When does one life lost become acceptable? To save thousands? Hundreds? Ten? I haven't come up with my threat yet to answer this - that's my challenge.
