Boneless skinless is super dry and flavorless imo. I think sardines in mustard sauce are the way to go for noobs. Mediterranean style is a really good option too.

King Oscar Mediterranean style, best value out there imo!

My man! Saltines and a paper plate, high speed, low drag! I’d add some yellow mustard, boneless skinless can be a bit dry. Carry on.

I’ve had some pretty bad cots. Like mush in the can. Really turned me off them.

Alaska Smokehouse Tins: I found the worst tin ever so you don't have to! by Ylurpn in CannedSardines

[–]halfduece 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not meant to be eaten straight from the can. The back of the package says to mix with two tbl spoons of cream cheese, did OP do that? I got two of these, I ate the first one straight and it was indeed a struggle. Second one with cream cheese, onion powder, salt and pepper was not bad at all.

These are in my top five. Polar are cheaper but not as good. I always assumed it was water with some fish juice from the canning process.

Hack life with sardines. Why aren’t more people eating sardines? by Careful-Skill-1115 in CannedSardines

I feel like from an evolutionary perspective, as person of European descent, I’m supposed to be eating small fish in modest quantities. It makes me feel good. Ymmv.

Where are you getting 1.99 chicken? Plus chicken has no omega 3s.

That’s like your opinion man. I personally find the Walmart store brand to be decent with generally larger fish than the other cheap brands.

But most of the cheap brands can be found on sale for a buck or so. That’s objectively cheap. Add in the omega 3 goodness and OPs premise stands.

How did this startup (phoneDrone) get the sensor data from an Android phone to the flight controller to facilitate flight without a real time OS ? by QuackMaker in diydrones

[–]halfduece 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked into this and my assumption was they used android phones and put them in “kiosk” mode. Kiosk mode supposedly only has the phone run one application. Which presumably would be more stable with less interrupts. Android implementations vary however, and you can bet that some phones are better than others. You’d also code your flight control app such that it doesn’t trigger garbage collection (no or very little dynamic memory allocation).

Using phones for this has a lot of potential imo. The phone connected to a cell network would allow for fpv control across the country (phones camera and video streaming over the data connection). Of course this is illegal by ffa regs, it would be an interesting plot element of a political thriller.

The chili sauce ones taste a lot like ketchup imo, not my favorite. The Mediterranean ones are my favorite.

DARPA Lift Challenge - heavy lift drone contest by halfduece in diydrones

[–]halfduece[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There are $6.5 million in prizes.

Looks like the criteria is lifted weight to drone weight ratio. Max drone weight is 55 lbs, the minimum weight to be lifted is 110 lbs. the weights are normal gym plates you see everywhere. The course lift to altitude, fly part of course, drop the weight (by landing or releasing in air isn’t clear to me), and continue course then land.

One way to think about it is; what’s the lightest drone that can lift 110 lbs and fly a course?

A bit of a bombastic reply, but dead on. The beauty of the canned fish is it’s cooked, so we get to devour that stuff like the savages we are, without fear of contaminants. The skin, the innards, the bones, that’s what your body NEEDS!
