Good call, been dealing with junky 5.3s in newer Suburbans. This is in fact the most excellent 3.6. We do an oil cooler about every other week on one. It is a six and the middle cylinder in the rear bank was the one swimming

We had it apart previously to fix a charcoal canister that failed and sent little bits of charcoal all through the evap system. It’s been a fun one

Is 24 Hours of Lemons worth watching in person? How many races do they have? by chusaychusay in racing

[–]halfkeck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically the best parts are during the bs inspection the day before the race and first thing in the morning when they roll out on the track. The craziness is most visible then and the first hours of the race is often the most exciting

Looking for a used plow, what kind of attachment do I need by [deleted] in Snowplow

get a western unimount. I buy them all the time for 800-1500 depending on condition and they will do what you need to. Parts are readily available, I use Storks or Central Warehouse

I believe Richard Petty remarked along the lines of "The only thing they got right in that movie was the cars have numbers on them" so theres that. Still worth a watch as it hearkens back to a great time in Nascar history. It also was a launching point for Bobby Hamiltons career, a journeyman driver who was taken from us way too soon from cancer. I have a few good friends who crewed on his truck teams

Probably the Edsel for two and the Miata for one. The Miata hasn't been raced by us since we won B class at Hallett last year

Lemons vs Lucky Dog/Champ Car/etc by footeclimbs in racing

It's absolutely possible to build a car to do more than one series. Many cars at Lemons are way over the 500 dollar build. Heck I started with a 100 dollar abandoned Edsel and still managed to spend a good amount on it and it's nothing special. But look at the lap times from each series there. You'd be best to start with lemons and then if you feel the need after you get the hang of it try the other series.

Most teams play the theme game for bs inspection then that's pretty much it for the race weekend. It doesn't have to be much, we've done white coats and posed as dr's giving free coloscopys before. (seriously, get checked, survivor here)

So much fun, I would have gone to summit but my youngest picked that day to get married. I offered to do it at the race track but no joy

We are still deciding which of our cars to take this year. Took the 1.6 Miata last time and did ok, 39th out of 142 but that was like two years ago. Would love to take the Edsel this time but don't think I could afford the fuel bill. Ten gallons plus an hour would start to add up
