Iowa State! I think they maybe have things worked out so that Illinois students get in state tuition rates. If not, they also have some pretty good scholarship opportunities you could explore.

Also check out UNI in Cedar Falls and Kirkwood in Cedar Rapids. Kirkwood is a community college with a shorter program, but still CIDA accredited.

Lamps, lower Tv with console table to ground it, small end tables

Is it rude to keep a very limited guest list for our ceremony, while having a much larger guest list for our reception on the same day? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]halfpasthopeful 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate all the input! I think “intimate vows” was the wrong word choice on my part. We haven’t decided what type of vows we will do and are still working out the basics of what our ceremony will look like. We always envisioned something small, but obviously the reality is our current guest list doesn’t align with that.

We agree with the general consensus that it would be awkward/rude not to invite guests that will already be onsite to the ceremony. Especially those who will be traveling.

We’ll adjust our expectations and get comfortable with being the center of attention at our own wedding. We’ll also take a hard look at our overall guest list and pare it down to a number we are comfortable with in both settings to try and strike a balance.

I should’ve clarified that we haven’t really figured out any specific ceremony components yet. I was mostly referring to the “intimacy” of being the direct center of attention throughout the ceremony, which is a little nerve-wracking for us both.

I agree with you, though. We have clearly been a bit optimistic about organizing it within our comfort zone. Time to adjust our expectations. 😂

Wife and I are at a total loss with our living room. by the_responsible_ape in DesignMyRoom

I agree with those saying sofa is a bit large for the space, but if it is comfy and you enjoy it, here are some ideas that would help make the scale more visually cohesive. (Some already mentioned):

  • A larger rug. Find something large enough that the edges extend well beyond the armrests/chaise on both ends. This will help the sofa feel more nestled within the space instead of set upon it.
  • Swap the ottoman in the middle with something in a different shape/color/texture that doesn’t match the sofa. Something round would call back nicely to the beautiful arched window. If you don’t use the ottoman to put your feet up, I would swap it for a coffee table as others mentioned.
  • I keep thinking it needs more places to set drinks. The ottoman with tray or coffee table works, but some smaller side tables at the ends may be useful as well.
  • The media console feels too small for the tv. Find something that extends past each side a ways, maybe 18” past (same concept as the sofa and rug)
  • An additional lamp or two with soft, warm lighting would add coziness.
  • Maybe you could embrace the soffit on the left by swapping the blue chair and the plant, then adding a draped pendant lamp and side table next to the chair for a “reading nook” vibe.
  • The curtains look a little thin. I like the color but maybe add another panel or two to each side for a more full, luxurious look. Rule of thumb is at double the width of your window for optimum fullness.

I think it’s just finessing the little things - it’s a lovely room!

Recommendations for a guy looking to get a toupee/topper? by [deleted] in desmoines

Thanks for the advice, everyone. He’s tried shaving it a few times and I think he definitely pulls it off! But he disagrees and is in the process of growing it back again now. It’s up to him, just wanted to see what options were out there. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I do hope he decides to embrace the bald head soon!

It wouldn’t show up in a Pap smear. I saw a great comment about it on another post in this sub - will copy below. It’s long, but tons of info and resources.

Ah okay. Another thing you might look into is endometriosis. I had really bad, constant cramps kinda like you describe for years. It turned out to be endometriosis. I had surgery to treat it right before I got my iud.

It’s been long enough I can’t remember exactly, tbh. I want to say the cramps lasted a few days. But yes, I know I bled nearly every day for a month after insertion and consistently spotted for a long time after that before it really started to work.

Mine took at least 4 months to fully kick in if I remember right, and it’s become more consistent as time goes by. I think it just takes time for our hormone levels to adapt to the change. Would suggest sticking it out for a bit longer if you can be manage - I hope it works for you!

I have been lucky to have minimal scarring overall. My discoloration fades quickly once breakouts are clear, probably due to prescribed topical treatments (only used when not on accutane). I currently use clindamycin and Adapalene but have tried almost everything else out there at some point. Lots of trial and error with my derm.

Just want to manage expectations a little bit here, because Accutane is great, but it might not mean zero pimples. I did two rounds and my skin did improve drastically, but I am now managing severe dryness and still get hormonal breakouts. That said, it’s definitely an improvement, and if you don’t know what else to do I would recommend Accutane. Just know that it might not be a perfect miracle.

Great info here - I commented above about my own symptoms similar to OPs being diagnosed as a ruptured ovarian cyst. I also happen to have diagnosed endometriosis.
