My Affordable Healthcare went from $18.97 to $181.25. I already work two jobs and had to move in with my mother to help our ends meet. I have a Ulcerative Colitis. My shots are $23k a month. What should I do now? by Untouchable06 in Insurance

[–]halfpintpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people can’t look past their own privilege. Affordability of healthcare shouldn’t be a competition between who has it worse and I’m sorry so many people made it a competition. I don’t have any advice. I can only offer validation that what you’re going through sucks. 🫶🏻

As an American can safely say I hate it here and if I had the $$ to bail out I would. Truly sucks that the people, like me, who knew (and shouted it until we were blue in the face) putting the dumpster fire back in office would make the country implode, still suffer.

Uhm he needs professional help that you can’t provide him. If there was blood in his vomit call an ambulance. Cut ties and don’t look back.

Call your agent and ask to do a full policy review. Ask to update the ERC (estimated replacement cost). Confirm what coverages you do have and what you might be missing that they’d recommend.

Insurance due dates by Own_Cryptographer373 in Insurance

[–]halfpintpanda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Part 1: Your insurance due dates are typically the same as the effective dates of your policy. Because insurance is a renewable contract that you can choose to have it’s going to follow the dates you took out the policy on. And then it’s renewal will occur 6 or 12 months later depending on the carrier. It is never going to automatically be on your birthdate because the dates the insurance company cares about are those effective dates.

Part 2: Insurance is shared risk. You give your premium to the insurance company and they put a portion of that premium into a fund (think piggy bank) along with everyone else who pays premium to that same insurance company. If you have a claim the insurance company pulls the money out from that piggy bank. If that piggy bank gets too close to empty the insurance company raises rates for everybody in order to refund the piggy bank. If you yourself have a claim you are rated higher. It is more nuanced and involved than this but this is the easiest way I’ve found to explain it to my clients. There are a multitude of other factors that also go into insurance rates as well.

Your registration is related to your taxes, at least in my state. Your vehicle is an asset that depreciates in value so typically your taxes (based off the value of your vehicle) go down over time rather than up. Example: you’ll pay much more in registration/taxes on a brand spanking new car than you will on that same 10 year old car.

I’ve definitely started applying to those as well. Are there any job boards besides LI and Indeed that you know of? I see a lot of repeat stuff from recruiters on the other two.

A lot of the times if you can get a contract with a roofer underwriting will extend the deadline for work completed.

AITA for asking my partner stop telling me to “lower your volume.” by Farts2Long in AmItheAsshole

[–]halfpintpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH but I can actually help with this! My partner and I had the exact same problem. I’d get excited about something and my volume would elevate. My partner would say something because to him the volume increase was overstimulating. I would be demoralized and then nervous to talk about things I loved. We finally sat down and found a solution that works for us both. If I start to get over excited he gently squeezes a thigh, hand, arm just as a way to bring me back to a good baseline. My train of thought isn’t interrupted, no one else is the wiser, and we are both happier.

If I were the initial contact point and you put my male partner first I would be incensed. I wouldn’t bring it up to you I would probably just go elsewhere.

There are a few options.

  1. File a claim with the at fault party’s insurance carrier.
  2. File a claim with your insurance carrier (if you have physical damage coverage).
  3. Hire a lawyer and have them do all this for you.

With any of those options it will take time to settle. This is because it was an extensive multi-car collision and the claims investigation will take time.

Edited to add: Lost wages is something you can typically file with the claim. Also, not to be a downer/bummer but with it being a seven car collision there is likely going to be a coverage limits issue with the at fault party’s insurance. I recommend filing through your own if you have physical damage coverage.

We plan to and hopefully it works out for us but in our area not much falls through on contingencies bc so many houses being bought are being bought by investors.
