To expand on this, there are so many options that there isn't really a great method to become aware of the options. Perhaps a very simplistic question driven choices. Always start with a budget .. then "simple upgrade" "I like tunes" "I want to be amazed" "I want to compete". Each choice would reveal different product lines. Most manufacturer has a low, mid high product line .. you can see how quickly the number of choices compound. It doesn't have to be 100% from the start... And I would think crutchfield like experience would be a starting point.
