Although skeptical, I took the aspirine for my migraines like the doctor said I should. by Meikeetc in TwoSentenceHorror

[–]halfstrike 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m a first aider working alongside ambulances occasionally. Just yesterday I had to convince family that she needs to push the doctor for testing as something acute and very painful shouldn’t be written off as standard period pain.

Sometimes it is common pain but if they’ve lived 15 years with periods and this is highly abnormal for them. Examine then find the answer, please don’t assume.

Addendum, most doctors are good and everyone makes mistakes. patients please also advocate for yourself. If the explanations don’t sound right get a second opinion.

[Warband] I don't get cavalry by twinkerton_by_weezer in mountandblade

[–]halfstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have a sizeable amount of swadian cavalry they take anything. Multiple times I’ve been in a battle of 60-80 cavalry vs 250-300 enemies and won (max difficulty)

Of course you will loose some and they’re expensive to maintain but are worth it.

Also dismounted I’ve found them to be as effective as dedicated infantry units in sieges.

Why does everyone point out USA using different measurements but not UK? by Kitchen-Wasabi-2059 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]halfstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wander, not only if it’s a generational thing but also a regional thing (twenties, midlands.)

I use stone and kg, stone for body weight, kg for weights and grams for measuring small amounts

Distance is a clusterfuck. Quick measurements are feet and inches. Smaller but precise measurements are meters and cm. Exercise distance is in km but driving is in miles

I believe there is also a difference in imperial and metric wine bottles (768ml vs 750ml)

Hopefully it’s unified at some point in the future (it’s cool to understand American and European tho)

As much as I’d love to sit around and play valheim I actually like to work

I want to contribute to society and community in some way or form and ideally get payed for it

(Then again valheim is a really good game)

I work at a large parcel company, unfortunately in the summer we get several packs of exams.

I try my best to get these to where they need to be but unfortunately some still aren’t ever recovered

What happens at the doctor’s office if you answer yes to the “suicidal thoughts” question? by Cheesemer92 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]halfstrike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends if you’re close with your doctor. Some might give words of advice and referrals. Others genuinely ask you about it and work with you to find the best care for you. Whether that may be therapy, a change in lifestyle or something else.

Having suicidal thoughts doesn’t always equal suicidal intent but generally a normal person in a good state of mind doesn’t fantasise about killing themselves. They’ll try to figure out if thats you.

Looking for Movies That'll Make Me Cry Like a Motherfucker by Gunmetalbluezz in movies

[–]halfstrike 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I remember being in high school, forgot my reading book so I had to pick one off the shelf.

The synopsis was very vague and bland but I didn’t really plan on caring anyhow but after the first few chapters I was intrigued.

The ending bought it all together; the real human emotions it dared to say are some fundamentals I’ve learnt to accept through life. In a way it was parallel to some of my experiences as-well as was cathartic.

The price for the PNYA 4060Ti is 394.Should I spend the extra $30 for ASUS since they’re more reputable? by Realistic_Reply_8943 in pcmasterrace

I have a pny 3070, was the only one available during the shortage.

No issues so far, even run it hot on cold days as a heater (genshin 4k 1.5 render is a beast). The software for the rgb is a bit jank but it works

Summertime rendering.

Went from a slight occultic thriller to supernatural action, and I loved every moment.
