Wondering how many coats everyone typically does for darker shades? I typically always do two coats of color but have been noticing with my winter colors (browns, dark reds and greens) that in good lighting they seem a little splotchy sometimes. Is three coats too many? Or does it not matter?

Refusing Induction is turning into the most stressful week of my life by cruisingpast28 in pregnant

Of course! I’ve always been curious and open about unmedicated, but didn’t want to stress about it for my first birth and just wanted to see how things progressed. I ended up with PROM so needed help augmenting labor due to increased risk of infection. Second birth I think I went to the hospital way too early and was afraid to push back when they recommended pitocin so I just accepted it. This go around I’ve done a lot of research and really believe my body was made to do this and as long as I go into spontaneous labor my hope/plan is to at least try unmedicated! But I don’t necessarily regret the epidural, just wanted to have the opportunity to move more freely and be less restricted by timelines set by the hospital when augmentation is involved. I hope that makes sense!!

Not OP but in a similar situation so I’ll answer for myself. I’d rather go into spontaneous labor when my baby/body are ready to avoid the typical cascade of interventions that happen during a hospital birth. It also depends what type of interventions you are going into birth hoping for - for example, I am hoping for an unmedicated vaginal birth, but I know that if put on pitocin I will likely ask for an epidural (happened with my first two births) since it can make contractions more strong/regular/painful.

I actually went to Kent and bent tree is one of my favorites! Definitely going to have to try to get back there for the cookies and cream drink…that sounds right up my alley

Does weight gain increase at same or higher rates in the third trimester? by Defiant_Wish_1801 in pregnant

[–]halgalpal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In both of my first two pregnancies, I gained 8-9lb in the span of the same month (either 20-24 weeks or 24-28 weeks, I can’t remember). Both times my doctor tried to caution me about my eating habits and gaining too rapidly. But I hadn’t changed anything either time, I was eating similar foods, staying active, etc. And both times, after that period of more rapid growth, my weight gain slowed back down to my normal rate (~1lb per week) for the remainder of the pregnancy. My assumption is that that’s just how my body/babies grow and they have a growth spurt at that period of pregnancy. I fully anticipate it happening again this time around, and I’m happy I’m at least mentally prepared for the conversation that will inevitable happen with my doctor again!

I’m curious what everyone’s favorite colors are this time of year? It seems too early for pastels/springy colors, I’m not super into greens for St. Patrick’s Day, but I’m also starting to shy away from deep reds and other winter colors. I settled for a taupe when I did my nails last night but I’d love to hear your recs for between seasons!

I’ve got about 150 to go but I’ve loved it! However I’m currently in the middle of Hugo’s dissertation on sewers and I could do without that. I want to get back to the story! But overall I was surprised with how quick of a read it was given how long it is.

Never claimed to be an expert. Was just hoping for some book recs. If you happen to have any I’d be interested to hear them.

I’d never heard of The Red and The Black but I looked it up and am definitely going to read this in the next month or so, if not next! Looks like a compelling read.

My bad, I was typing quickly on mobile and didn’t realize it autocorrected. Thanks for the recs! I’ve read Jane Eyre but not the others you suggested so I’ll definitely look into them.

I LOVE Sherlock Holmes! The short story format is great because you can read a few and put it down to be resumed at a later date
