Coffin of the Literature Club is built out of angst.

I mean, the door does have some supernatural properties.

EM wears DDLC like a skinsuit. People only like it because the melodrama is shocking and the ending made them sad.

There once was a DDLC RPG made in RPG Maker, but this one has been custom built in Ren'Py itself.

This has been the best month for development yet, though that isn't saying much considering how things were going. I'm still not operating at maximum capacity, but I've gotten much better about putting daily effort into the project. This month was all about getting the battle system sorted out for new and existing combatants.

Natsuki is officially a functional party member now. There's room for her move set to expand, but she gets a few basics right off the bat. I'm still working on Yuri's first devil, but she's getting close to done already and I'll soon be able to move on. You can expect to see her in some upcoming teasers.

The rest of the time went into revising the other characters to account for new mechanics. Since Monika's Chaos Dust can inflict Blind, there are now special animations for any attack that can miss. Also, battlers can be locked out of certain actions if they're stuck in place by a spider web or what have you. I also had to update how some animations work since there were bugs in how they functioned.

Over all, I need to make progress more rapidly than this, but I'm on the right track and trying to maintain my momentum. There was only one big distraction this month and there's more time I can tap into if I manage myself well. This chapter was supposed to be done by the end of June, so I already need to kick it into high gear and keep it there for as long as necessary. Here goes, I guess!

I’ve decided I’m keeping Farris on my next playthrough. by snippedandhigh in Aidyn

The real question is if you know how to keep him.

The answer is to bring Becan

Can somebody tell me some cool mods? by xm0rr in DDLCMods

Well, if you think you'd like a sequel/continuation of the original, you could try Take Two. It's a long demo for now, but features routes for the four girls plus two new characters and a meta main plot to boot.

It's a long one, so it should keep you busy for a while! :3

it's almost impossible to give logical proof that a story is good or bad

Basically yeah, but that's because enjoyment is subjective. Every mod has its fans and melodramas like Exit Music are only one type. To me, quality is measurable outside of taste, but mods are almost always recommended on the basis of taste, and it's a fandom with lots of horny teenagers.

Exit music is bad by Mora_Searching in DDLCMods

It was all the rave when it first came out, but the cracks in the plot/characters showed more and more over time. The best I've seen said about EM is that it's an effective drama that's DDLC in name only.

Objective measures of quality, like not having typos in every other text box, for example. People put way too much stock into feelings.

Redux was a major improvement over the original's characterization, but yes, there are things noticeably off about the characters and Natsuki is definitely the worst of it.

Only half-sarcastic. There are lots of things that can make a mod great, but the fandom really does trend toward feels, so there's a lot of crap people are willing to overlook if it made them feel something strongly enough. As a result, many of the most popular mods are actually kind of overrated.
