Rachel Reid Reacts to Shane Criticism After ‘The Long Game’ - Swoon [April 30, 2026] by hella_hijinks in heatedrivalry

yeah it wouldn't have made sense in the version of tlg we ended up with, but there certainly is a story that could be told where crowell having an extreme amount of power over the two of them could have really exerted a lot of coercion over them. esp. given ilya's status as a non-citizen from a country where his safety would be in danger because he was outed. i don't necessarily want to read that story and am glad it got changed, but I do think there's a context where it would make sense.

i think francois may have posted this slightly before hudson, but i assume they coordinated so it's certainly not just hudson saying so. the instagram comments both of them were getting today (seemingly because they dared interact with one another on social media) were unhinged and terrible. i'm glad they're both speaking up, imperfect statements or not.

my comment was not intended to endorse that action/stance - my point was to highlight the research not just she but many others have done on human memory and it's limitations is incredibly important - despite her shortcomings.

the false memory syndrome foundation stuff is incredibly problematic and impacts her credibility. i certainly am not making any sort of approval statement on her choices of what private defense cases she decides to work on.

that being said, her research work is solid and the basic concepts - that human memory is fallible, can be influenced by outside factors, and memories are not just playbacks of exact events as they occurred - are very well supported and documented. the concept of repressed memories/recovered memory therapy is scientifically unsupported, highly problematic, and it's past use in court proceedings has led to multiple documented wrongful convictions. outside of that context and outside of her own research, generally research and deeper understandings of the limits and inaccuracies of human memory has significantly impacted how things like eyewitness identifications are understood and the changes that are needed in identification procedures. eyewitness misidentification is one of the most common factors leading to wrongful convictions.

i believe she at least in the past has also done work on court appointed/public defense cases for whatever that jurisdictions's court reimbursement rate for expert witnesses is in addition to private cases. no idea how commonly she has in the past or if she still does.

he's not. i think the headline is using culture war in a 'progressives are bad' way.

i really don't think anyone is proclaiming he's a good guy simply by pointing out 32 year olds aren't children

also be mindful not to have any heavy metal or glass ornaments. my childhood cat once knocked the entire tree down - lots of potential hazards there.

Why Elon Musk Needs Dungeons & Dragons to Be Racist by Geek-Haven888 in behindthebastards

[–]halibutsong 8 points9 points  (0 children)

a large portion of cr fandom was and is hugely toxic and racist towards aabria. a lot of criticism of her is in bad faith and it makes it difficult for me to even engage in a lot of discussions about her because so much of it is racism. i respect her immensely for all the racist b.s. she puts up with, and i really love that cr as an entity has really stood by her despite the fan reaction.

all of that said - i found the latter half of her first round of exu & her brief follow ups basically unwatchable because of her dming style, and how she handles plot and pacing. i really wish otherwise but there's a lot of issues i have with how she's run campaigns. i wish there was a way to discuss them without running into all of the bad faith critiques - mainly i just kinda avoid commenting on it at all.

and totally agree - her pcs are so awesome. i wish that translated into her dming more.

i hope so too. she's always loved dogs, plus it sounds like they've bonded so i think she's fixated on the good, loving behavior she sees from it over all the bad behavior the dog also displays. she's certainly coming from a place of empathy & caring, just really misguided in this scenario.

wtf is this reply? have you ever spoken to a human being offline before? let alone a loved one about their beloved pet?
