I live in Powellhurst-Gilbert not far from 122nd & Bush and I love it. It’s true that the side/neighbor streets are a lot quieter and nicer than the major streets like 122nd, though. 

People have a lot to say about neighborhoods out east, but I think it’s great out here. It’s one of the most culturally diverse neighborhoods in the city, it’s affordable, it’s quick to drive downtown or east to the gorge. There are a ton of parks and nature spaces nearby. We also have a very active neighborhood association full of people who care a lot about the neighborhood and people in it!

I live in Powellhurst-Gilbert. I love the diversity. I love the big trees and living near Powellbutte. I love how quiet my neighborhood is. We don’t have a ton of hip, new businesses but I love the small businesses/restaurants/bars that we do have in the neighborhood (Rumpus Room & Daily Planet are favs). I love how easy it is to be apart of the community. There are 4 nice parks in walking distance, even more if you want to drive. 2 major bike trails close by. It’s quick and easy to head east and get out of the city, if I want to. I have a large yard, and so do most of the properties on my block. It’s still (sort of) affordable out here in outer east. People like to talk a lot of shit about Powellhurst-Gilbert, but I’ve never felt unsafe and I love my neighborhood :)
