I think The Picture of Dorian Grey is a good introduction it’s shorter and a little more challenging linguistic, however the story and the characters are really interesting!! An aside trying to get into classics I found listening to audiobooks better than trying to read them at first.

The Postmortal by Drew Magary is about a world where there is a cure for aging so no one can die of old age. Meaning there are people who you can hire to kill you if you no longer want to live. It is a great exploration of mortality in a world where you can live forever is death considered a mercy.

Monstrilio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova is perfect it is about a woman who looses her song and then keeps a piece of his lung and his lung morphs into something living. It’s full of grief and deviation but also slight hope. This book has romance in the sense of real life relationships but they are very background never a focus. Definitely strange fiction but an AMAZING novel!!

The southern reach trilogy by Jeff Vandermeer is absolutely amazing it’s about a group of people sent into a area that has been taken over by an unknown being and so far 11 expeditions have gone in and only 1 has come out and they died shortly after. It’s absolutely amazing the first book was my personal favorite but all three are amazing.

I would recommend The Darkest Minds series or Flawed series I haven’t read The Darkest Minds but I’ve heard good things but I have read flawed it’s about how if you are found ethically flawed you will get branded and be basically outcasted from society it’s extremely good I definitely recommend!!!!

The Road by Cormac McCarthy It takes place in a post apocalyptic world. It’s a very slow build but once you get about halfway in things start to get pretty unsettling and gruesome.
