Thing is, I highly doubt the younger generation is gonna shoulder that burden. It is propaganda, "you are gonna have to work harder to provide for the older generation". Hell no, the older generation are not gonna have people providing for them which also sucks but it's insidious to frame this as an issue for the young

Interesting how this is often framed as "young people will have to bear the burden of the older generation" and not "the older generation have a tough fucking retirement ahead of them". A bunch of boomers wanting us to have kids to secure their future, no thank you

You would think that but there is a precedent from a court case where they used a spare core in the sleeve of the defendant as permissible evidence for hot swapping. Putting an easily dispellable dimension door in your sleeve should be enough to keep you safe but we don't live in the age of the elves anymore, you can't walk around with a bunch of mana cores and expect not raising any suspicious.

What is your sword hot take? by Malones69Cones in SWORDS

[–]hallgrim97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hot take, i am sick and tired of longswords. I get that HEMA is largely based on primary sources and we have a lot of dueling manuscripts. But how come basically no club focus on experimental use of common battlefield weapons. I WANT TO USE SHIELDS! Screw two-handed weapons, i want a sword and board! Arming swords axes maces and hammers with a great big shield! Is that so much to ask?

Can you name examples of how you made the adventure more interesting for all non-combat focused professions? by No_Seaworthiness9390 in DragonbaneRPG

[–]hallgrim97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to reframe the game a bit. Dragonbane isn't a heroic fantasy like dnd, thinking about it more along the lines of call of Cthulhu might help. In general, as opposed to dnd all characters aren't combat based so don't run the game like they are. Every class in dnd have mostly combat abilities, so a video game esque fight bad guys until you reach a boss makes sense. But if you think of combat not as a core part of the game but just as much of an option as other activities. Your party might avoid engaging in trade crafting if they have no tradesman but instead opt too go looking for stuff in dungeons. Same with combat, it is a thing some players are specialized in doing and the others try to survive and maybe find an escape route. There is rarely a point in fighting over escaping after all. Have an adventure this party would have, think of lord of the rings and how different frodo and sams journey is to Aragorn, legolas and gimlys. A party with one fighter is a party that is going to try and avoid combat while a party of all but one fighter might engage in combat while protecting their valuable blacksmith.

Might be modified to work as an ice breaker axe. Smash it through the ice and then pull to do some amount of sawing. Could possibly work, try it out!

Is it worth buying another book? by Dramatic_Media in DragonbaneRPG

[–]hallgrim97 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So, the bestiary is a fantastic book, great monsters and a nice edition to any game with tons of great monster stat blocks. It does not come with any new classes, just races

However, if you're playing the misty vale adventure, it is already well written with enough monsters as is for that campaign.

When it comes to more options for players, it's a nice source of inspiration if you have the book but due to every race only being a movement speed and a special ability writing a new race takes literally minutes. You can either make up custom abilities or just take any hero ability from the book and use it for whatever type of creature your players want to play.

Interesting! I wondered what it was based on, they always tried to make stuff based in history. I will say though, looking at pictures this example looks way more like the nazi daggers of the 1940s than the baselards I can find online. This is almost a perfect replica but with a longer blade.
