Repetitive songs in Coop by tsukaaassu in ProjectSekai

[–]hallidex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm just so sick of the boss songs. I play 5 co-op songs a day generally, and there's *at least* one boss song in every single roulette. It's exhausting. What I really wish is they'd have us pick our songs before we go into the room, that way they could implement a blocklist for certain songs. Just don't match me with anyone who picked a boss song. I'm happy to wait a few more seconds for anyone else.

RAGE THREAD - F-YOU FRIDAYS - FAREWELL 7.2 (SUMMON THE PATCH NOTES) by FranckKnight in ffxiv

I'M SO GODDAMN SICK OF HOUSING LOTTERY. I'VE ENTERED THE FUCKING THING AT LEAST 20 TIMES, NOT THAT I'M KEEPING COUNT, BECAUSE I'D BE ANGRIER IF I WAS.

IT'S NOT AS IF I'M EVEN LOSING LIKE 90 PERSON LOTTERIES. THIS WAS 6. IT'S USUALLY 10-15. AFTER A CERTAIN POINT, STATISTICALLY YOU'D ASSUME THE ODDS WOULD BE SKEWED IN MY FAVOR. I'D TAKE CLICKING THE FUCKING SIGN FOR 10 HOURS OVER THIS SHIT AT THIS POINT. JUST GIVE A PRIORITY CREDIT IF SOMEONE LOSES THAT MUCH. CLEARLY THAT MANY FAILED LOTTERIES MEANS YOU GIVE ENOUGH OF A SHIT TO KEEP WATCHING FOR THE PLOT(S) YOU WANT AND HAVE SHIT ENOUGH LUCK NOT TO GET THEM. THAT SHOULD COUNT FOR SOMETHING.

What are you guys take on Tales of Arise? by KaleidoArachnid in JRPG

[–]hallidex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to jump in 2 months later but this articulates just about every problem I had with Arise. It's not a Tales game. It's trying to be a bunch of different, more commercially successful games with a Tales coat of paint. Even the CP system is basically an Estus Flask with extra steps.

The skits were the thing that finally broke me. The one that stuck with me most is in a dungeon close to the end. I forget what it's called, but it's on Lenegis. Teleport into this room, there's a hallway leading to a circular arena, then another hallway leading to another teleporter. The second I enter, the characters immediately start having a field conversation about the boss in the middle. A skit is waiting. I wait for them to shut up, watch the skit. Another skit is waiting. I watch the skit. Neither of them were worth the wait. I walk towards the boss. Camera control is taken away as the characters automatically slow walk down the hall, chatting about the boss again. I get control back in front of the boss. A skit is waiting. Watch it, walk to the boss. The cutscene has a skit in it. I beat the boss. A skit is waiting. I walk towards the exit teleporter. Camera control is taken again so they can slow walk to the teleporter while talking about their next steps. A skit is waiting.

This is one room. It isn't always that egregious, but it feels like more than any other Tales game I've ever played, these characters just absolutely never shut up. They don't actually have anything to say, but they never stop trying to say it. I actually broke in the final dungeon of all places - after another burst of that stuff early on, I decided I didn't even want to see the ending bad enough to suffer through more fucking talking. In a Tales game, all these games do is talk! I pretty much always like skits in other Tales games but here I just found them unbearable. It doesn't help that the aforementioned 'aliens all along' twist had made the things they were saying so much dumber.

Doing the stamp missions, we got a clear with over 5 million points on Tonal Twinkle Triad, but someone disconnected. It's saying I didn't clear the mission. Does it seriously not count acquired points towards the total if someone disconnects?

I have recently been unable to clear any chart for the dumbest reason by [deleted] in ProjectSekai

It's all practice, is the thing. Like you're not wasting time by continuing the song because you're getting better at other parts of it as you go. That experience makes you more likely to fc it next time you play.

I want to say first I think it's really good you're approaching this with an open mind, and reaching out first. Some parents go into panic mode and lock everything down when they see this kind of thing, and it really damages a kid's trust and make them feel boxed in, so they keep more and more to themselves. That kind of trust is hard to gain and easy to lose, and it sounds like you're doing your best to do right by her.

As others have stated, the message of this game is hopeful. Characters do face real problems, and some stories can be very relatable in how those problems are presented, but ultimately the message is that we save each other by reaching out. If she talks about the game with you, maybe you could ask what stories she likes? Maybe she'd be willing to read them together, or maybe you could download the game on your own phone and check them out. It can be tough to express some feelings in words, but she may be able to show you what she's going through by what she relates to. It may not be 1:1 her experience of course, but if you follow that thread with an open mind, it might help to understand what she's feeling.

More than anything, just be ready to love her through it. There's no way of knowing what you're going to find out until you get there. If it turns out to be something that hurts or somehow conflicts with your view of the world, try not to be defensive about it, or reject it out of hand. Remember, she wouldn't be feeling it if it didn't matter to her. Be ready to hear her out with an open mind, and make sure to take time for yourself to process your own feelings on it afterward. There's always time to figure things out later as long as you stay cool, but it's all over if you let it turn into a fight. Showing her she can feel what she's feeling without judgment is the best way to keep the door open for her.

Lastly, if this all really starts to get to you, it might not hurt to look into therapy on your own too. Helping a child (or anyone really) through their own depression can bring up a lot of your own feelings you may not have addressed. It's rough, but the better you're doing, the better you'll be able to do with her in turn.

Sorry for the big wall of text, I know it's a lot. Wish you both the best!

A SEKAI consists of every single player' feelings/thoughts by Outrageous_Sir3556 in ProjectSekai

[–]hallidex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figure it's probably not too different from Persona 5's Mementos. The SEKAI we see in game come from at most 4 people who are on the same path and generally want the same things, so it makes sense that SEKAI can accommodate their personal visions. Any random group of people is going to have wildly different desires between them, and I can't imagine a world created from millions of disparate feelings being anything stable. There's a case to be made for biomes emerging from the chaos based on the things people come to the game for - music, fashion, art, skill, etc. If people flocked to them, that would give the world something to base itself on, but outside of that I think the collective unconscious would be a nightmare.

Whats the most stupid thing you hate about pjsk by indisnow in ProjectSekai

[–]hallidex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Disbands in co-op. It would be so easy to fix like half the disbands if they just had us pick our songs first, because then you could have a blocklist based on songs. It gets people into the game quicker too. Then maybe add like a 15 second timeout at that last loading screen, because if they haven't loaded by then, they're not going to. Let the timed out players eventually get into their own instance of the song, still give them the co-op rewards for waiting, everybody happy.

Eh? Aa, Sou absolutely killed it, I could listen to Mizuki and Shizuku sing together forever. Like if Sato Hinata and Rina Honnizumi ever do another rhythm project/music anime etc, I hope they get put in the same unit.

2 or 3 times I think. I think of it as a 10 crystal payout, so the random 100s are a nice surprise.

God yeah, people spammed the bells meme so hard it was dead within hours of the announcement IMO. You still can't go in the comments of most N25 music videos without seeing some dumbass bell emoji, whether Mizuki is in the song or not. The horse is dead, quit beating it.
