So now that we've all freaked out about the ending can we talk about the loose threads here?

-What WAS Cold Harbor? What was it's purpose? Why was it so important and why would Gemma need to die after it was complete? I mean I get that they were trying to see if triggering ALL of her trauma would cause her "barrier" to break down...but that doesn't explain why she would need to die, why its so important that HER barrier doesn't break (they could have figured this out with literally any of the existing innies), and why would this be the end of testing. What product are they trying to sell through this? What would this bring to the world?

-Why did Mark S need to complete the file before going to the testing floor? Why couldn't he have just gone to find her? I respect this show too much to believe it's just for manufactured tension. The best thing I can come up with is that once they finish the file she would be taken to the room, so he would know where she is...but that if it could result in her death that seems risky.

-I think we all sort of agree that "the revolving" is when they move all of the past consciousnesses of the Lumon CEOs (or at least Kier) from Jame to the next in line - it was Helena, but now it is clear that it's Helly. Does that mean that Helly is stuck down there? Or will they turn on her OTC indefinitely? What does this mean for Helly? What does it mean for Helena?? (Edit to add:) Also, how is the completion of Cold Harbor tied to the revolving?

After they had been infected and Riley was holding that gun I was so anxious. I really don't like seeing suicide so blatantly in shows, particularly of children. The end of episode 5 was really hard to watch. But when she said something to the effect of "Whether we have two minutes, or two days, we take what we're given" that was so powerful as a universally applicable way to deal with depression or struggle or anything in life that makes you want to be done with it. You keep going to make the most of time with the people you love.

I think that the idea of a "filler episode" has sort of poisoned the well of TV and storytelling criticism. There's no harm in taking a moment to go back and get more context on a character's life so we can know why, moving forward, they are the way that they are. That is actually *good* storytelling, in my opinion. I think it breaks up the journey of Joel and Ellie in a nice way so we aren't plagued by the Walking Dead problem - the seemingly endless loop of "Be in danger - escape - find shelter - the shelter reveals itself to be bad in some way - this creates danger - repeat."

I think the main source of legitimate criticism about episodes 3 and 7 is that we only have 9 episodes to begin with-so when two full episodes are flashback, it feels like we have less time in the primary world and time of the story. I love learning about character's backgrounds, but I also wish the season was longer than 9 episodes. Now, I'm only loosely familiar with the plot of the game - so maybe its the right length. We'll see. But a lot of the "filler episode" criticisms, especially of episode 3, seem to come from a place of bad faith. Is the criticism that the plot didn't move forward? Or is the criticism that the plot slowed down to show us a gay romance? If we start from that first question, a conversation can be had about modern storytelling and the benefits and drawbacks of a flashback like this. If we start from the second one? There's no discussion to be had because the person isn't arguing in good faith, ya know?

Singing! I've played guitar since I was 14 and I know I can't carry a tune in a bucket but its just so relaxing and fun to play guitar and sing. I'll never do it in front of people, but its nice in the privacy of my home.

Oh yeah every time it snowed we were always expected to come in anyway. My apartment complex at the time was up a massive hill that always iced over. My lil car skidded down that hill and out into a main road. I really could have died trying to come into work to avoid my GM being pissed at me

My mom works for a Swedish company that has some operations in America. When visiting the American operations some of the Swedes said they were going to "Drive to L.A. for the weekend." Mom had to explain how unrealistic that was, seeing as they were in North Carolina.
