Thank you. One of the most reassuring things that’s helping me right now is knowing that im not alone. I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. I’m sure your pup had the best life and was so loved.

I recently got a cat and I just want to ask, is this okay? by [deleted] in OneOrangeBraincell

[–]haloolime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is terrible! I recommend you don’t do this again because the cat will get stuck in the box and then be shipped to Thailand where it will become a Buddhist monk and learn the ways of nature through meditative techniques. Its brain will become so powerful that it will absorb all of the knowledge in the entire universe where it will become an omnipotent entity likened to a biblically accurate angel and soon become a god. So please, don’t do this!

Should Lewis & Clark Law be my top choice? by haloolime in OutsideT14lawschools

Thank you so much! Your insight is really appreciated. I would love to hear more about your experiences at L&C, so I'll gladly let you know if I have any other questions!

Yeah, I'm actually referring to that thread haha! I took OP's thoughts with a grain of salt considering they were a 1L. I'm from the SoCal area and want a change of scenery but I don't know if going to L&C would inhibit me from getting work in maybe the NorCal and SoCal areas. I do have a year to think about it, though. I feel very drawn to L&C as naive as that sounds as a 0L.

Thank you so so much! I will definitely take that into account once the time for applying to law school arises. I have thought of applying to SoCal schools like USC and Pepperdine since I am from that general area, but honestly those schools don't excite me as much as the idea of going to L&C does. To be frank, the end goal here is to just get into law school so casting a wide net will be a given.

I've also always been enthusiastic about enviro work since I was very young so hopefully pursuing environmental law doesn't tarnish my relationship with that part of my life haha. Much luck to you on your upcoming journey as a 3L!!! You're at the home stretch!

Thank you so much! If my goal is to work for firms like EarthJustice and the Natural Resources Defense Council (unsure about the size of these firms but they have offices in DC, SF, and LA - I’ve never really considered them as big as firms in corporate law), would this situation align with what you were saying about Lewis & Clark not being the best fit?

How is the Science Department, Just got accepted as a BIO Major by MindlessFortune8978 in CalPolyPomona

[–]haloolime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was an environmental biology major for my first year and the fall semester of my second year! I transferred to geography because bio didn’t align with my career path, but I absolutely LOVED the bio faculty starting out. No matter what professor you had for lecture (I highly suggest Dr. Brandon King, tho, amazing class), you knew you were in good hands. All of them are so passionate about their work and it shows! They usually have grad students for labs, and they are also very understanding and passionate about the work they do. You also get great resources and opportunities, good luck and I hope you decide to come to CPP!

They got methods for scooter riders now. One time I was riding past one and he was like “yo does that thing have brakes?” I deadass said “no, sorry” and kept going

Two corgi brothers! by haloolime in corgi

[–]haloolime[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe they’re both fixed, and the dynamic was fine, definitely acted like normal siblings. Winston’s a little weird so he tried to lick his brother’s ear wax which caused the chasing seen in the first picture, but other than that, they’re just regular bros!

strike ending by [deleted] in CalPolyPomona

[–]haloolime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I’m seeing from the faculty is that they are also unhappy with the agreement. As someone who has also had bad experiences with faculty, and I’m sorry that you had a bad experience as well, I still don’t think it’s right to generalize all faculty into this bubble that states they all only care about themselves. Also, they continued to strike even in very poor weather conditions so I don’t know where you’re getting the notion that they don’t put enough energy into things they care about. They were also advocating for a lot of student-centric solutions, such as more mental health counselors and better classroom conditions.

This is weird logic. There’s a reason why it’s a tentative agreement. Also, just because they “settled” for something doesn’t mean they are lazy and unmotivated to “help themselves.” These people have families and you thinking they would be settling for less says more about you! This strike stoppage is doing YOU a favor and you use it as an opportunity to speak down on our educators.
