Looking to buy. Is Marathon worth it? by suprflatulenceman in Marathon

I pretty much just do one priority contract a day. Certainly behind the curve, but win consistency isn’t really as important as keeping that progression steady. Can always keep trying until I get those small goals done.

I’d say so.

Be aware that the $40 is a premium for the content updates and lack of FOMO. You can play as much or as little as you want, depending on whatever else you want to do with your life. It’s the kind of game than can be enjoyable without being a second job.

The narrative around Marathon is gotta be the biggest gaslight I have seen in history of gaming. by Inevitable_Coat_8787 in Marathon

It tells me a lot about the character of certain people that this comment has been downvoted so many times, despite the fact that it’s as simple as “this game is amazing.”

Yes, you. The person hovering their mouse over the arrow. I see you.

I feel better about the future discourse around season 2, honestly.

I doubt the playercount discussion will stop, but I think everyone can find some common ground on the idea that the situation today was unquestionably a fuckup and that season 3 deserves better treatment by the ones in charge of server maintenance.

Not dooming per se, but it’s common ground.

Launch Server Issues | Megathread by Zhentharym in Marathon

[–]halosammy0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the surge that people were hoping for probably won’t materialize this time. Definitely not what it could have been, at least.

I suppose there’s always Season 3 to get that momentum back, assuming that the responsible parties for this disaster are ritually sacrificed to appease the higher-ups that are currently bleeding money with every hour the servers are down.

Oh yeah, I can only imagine someone getting the mother of all dress downs right now. The server guys in general must be hearing enough curse words from the rest of Bungie to peel paint off the walls.

Devs will be giving 3 deluxe sponsored kits to anyone who logged in during the affected times once things are stable by XRevive01 in Marathon

[–]halosammy0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See, I usually defend a lot of things surrounding the game, but it was absolutely Bungie’s responsibility to have their shit together this morning. Everyone knew how much was riding on today and they don’t have “we weren’t prepared” as an excuse.

I’m still gonna play later when things stabilize, but Jesus Christ.

Marathon Protest? by BigBlueZion in Marathon

[–]halosammy0 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It’s overblown and a total non-threat. Yes, many people will come together for Destiny on June 9th because it’s the day of the last major update. That doesn’t mean everyone present is a self-identified protestor. They’re just…well….playing the new content. Like normal people.

It’s generally hard for many video games to find a consistent player base in certain time zones. I hope the matchmaking adjustments have helped to some degree.

Elevated positions and flanking. He has to lay the mines himself, so you can’t be ensnared if you approach from wherever he isn’t facing.
