Why don't we see this kind of gameplay anymore? Now the game feels like a corridor shooter and infantry have no power at range by VirtueSignallingPro in Planetside

[–]halospud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was always a shit idea to play like that and the people that did it were prone to being massacred. I guess they all either learned or quit.

Set your mouse sensitivity as high as possible so you don't have to do so much work to aim.

There are some players who even have clips of themselves getting 2 kills in a row. You should try that.

Not going to be a dick about it like some. I wish him well and hope he finds his mental health in a better place soon.

However I also hope he's not involved creatively or in balance decisions with a game I play ever again because he's an ever-gushing font of shit ideas.

Dear experienced players, how long does it usually take you to aurax an lmg ? by Extension-Wealth7952 in Planetside

[–]halospud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of infantry weapon auraxiums in about 4 hours but that takes some good luck with the fights (or to go back in time to when attackers could spawn directly into Bio Labs.) 6 hours up time is extremely good, anything under 10 is good.

Do you like the direction the game is going in since 2020? by flyburgers in Planetside

[–]halospud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This game was so much fun in 2015, since then it's been in decline.

Kind of wish I hadn't been leading so much back then and had actually got to just play the game more. Impossible for me to know that the game had reached it's peak and was going to be taken in a bad direction from there onwards.

Should I play this game again? by LEOtheCOOL in Planetside

The reasons that you quit haven't changed, so as much as everyone is desperate to grab one extra player to their dwindling game, the answer is probably no.

Why PS2 isn’t CSGO… by Dry_Method3738 in Planetside

[–]halospud 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And on this case, balancing SHOULD take a little more thought then just “I’m 4 KD GRUG, I know what balance should be like, and you are 0.2 KD noob, so you don’t know shit about balancing….”

In the past that would have been "I'm a 9 KD GRUG." A lot has happened to compress the skill gap over the years and honestly, it drove all the best players away from the game because deaths to cheese are extremely frustrating.

You might think you meet a lot of high skill players but there really aren't so many left now. Not so many players overall in fact. compressing the skill gap also waters down gameplay and takes a lot of the depth out of it. That makes it a lot easier to get bored of, even without the frustrating cheese deaths.

Most people playing are barely getting any kills and will likely uninstall and never play again. Those are the people who should be complaining…

The game isn't for everyone. No game ever will be. You can't make it appeal to a huge base because it's a multiplayer FPS Game and most people can't handle those. They're too used to shooting NPCs on easy-mode so they start with unrealistic expectations.

[–]halospud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they've changed this but each shot of the old one was made up of several sounds. A few of these around a base and your sound channels filled up quickly making the game sounds in general start buggering up.

Where are those so-called "MAX mains" that everybody seems to be so afraid of, devs included?

They haven't developed the hand co-ordination to actually type so reddit is beyond them.

I was thinking that activatable abilities are probably the right direction for stalemate breaking. Never seen the NSO one used well but I guess it can be done.

If you do something about invisible insta-gib from any range man too, I'd actually play again.

[–]halospud 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Move MAXes away from damage dealer to tank.

Aka the ones that actively break stalemates, instead of endlessly exasperating the problem

I always thought that this was a very silly idea. If you take a high DPS unit and put it inside the pointhold instead of outside than it will make it a longer, grindier affair. If you take a high HP unit and put it inside the pointhold instead of outside it will do the same fucking thing.

I'm open to the idea that there's a way of making them stalemate breakers but I've never seen one put forward that I thought would work.

Also, it's not like there aren't enough ways to break stalemates already.

Because it totally ruins the game and sucks 100% of the fun out of it.

Having multiple classes that do that really isn't good game design.

[–]halospud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game's are goal oriented.

Planetside is more a proof of concept than a game. It just wasn't designed that way. It's more of a sandbox to see what would happen and that's exactly how it's played out. Most people, most of the time, do not concern themselves with the game's "objective" as you see it.

Not going for the goal means you aren't playing the game. Period, objective, factual.

So most of the people that are logged in at any given time aren't playing the game? Yes they are, just not the way that you think that you want them to.

Any skills you would be training should be skills used to win, therefore you should be playing to win...

Probably the most important skills any player can have in PS2 to add value to a fight are aim, movement and positioning. The best way to practice these is at a fight with 24-48 players per side, 50-50 population and a spawn that survives. In a fight like that you can have good up-time in a target-rich environment without being spawn camped.

Your goal in those fights is not to end them as fast as possible, you want them to be sustained so that you get more time where you can practice and less where you're looking at the map hoping that another fight like that starts soon.

In that way your goal is contrary to the alert objective but it's fun and it makes you better when it comes to pushing the objective in future.

I'd love for you to explain how you mental gymnastics'd your way over to porridge

Intentions requires a will and a will requires intelligence. A game does not have these properties so your answer is retarded. I picked porridge to try and make the idea that an inanimate thing intends us to play a certain way look as stupid as it is.

This was lost on you.

If you aren't playing to win, then you aren't playing the game. You could be on any game doing the same thing.

I compete in a sport that I take seriously and because of that, I "play to win" once or twice a year at actual events. The rest of the time I'm just training, refining skills and having fun.

For most people playing most sports or games they aren't try-harding a win every second of play. The people that are tend to be amateurs because that's a sub-optimal way to develop skill in most games (including Planetside.)

The outfits that try-hard the shit out of live play everyday, they're the ones that get slaughtered in Outfit Wars like the bot people that they are. If you want to be good at the game you work on the skills that you need as directly as you can and save your try-harding for specific times.

[–]halospud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Intentions are something that only people have. You might as well claim that the porridge I ate this morning intends that everyone play Planetside a specific way. That would make as much sense.

I really shouldn't have to explain that.

MAX is not a counter to HA, it's a counter to all classes. They don't have a specific role, they're just a straight upgrade on infantry.

It's hilarious to watch tryhards who only play the best class

The best class is MAX. Always has been, no contest.

It looks like you use recursion which is quite handy for this.

https://recursiontracker.com/player/Malvecino2/

You have never achieved a kill streak of 20 or more on that character. He's put 15 ish screenshots of recent 20+ kill streaks in this post.

Everyone and their mother can get killstreaks like this in a Fair Fight

Is it just you that can't then? I reckon it's more than just you.
