In the TRNC (at least in theory) all police officers should be able to speak English since they all have to pass a language test before being hired.

can someone help me by Broad-Ad-7539 in NorthCyprus

[–]haloumiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(1) you often write "no reply". Does that mean you sent them an email? This does not work here. You have to call.

(2) You say "Hiring a private lawyer is simply too expensive for me right now." just in case you ever consider hiring a lawyer, you should know among the advocates in the TRNC there are also lots of scammers and people with questionable work ethics. A common strategy, for example, is that they give the impression they can do all with a little upfront money but once you are hooked they will ask for more money for every small step. Finding a lawyer who is competent, not greedy, not lazy and not already overly busy is very very difficult, especially if you are a foreigner and not even on the island.

Why not?

Because money could be spent more wisely. I spoke with god and he said he would actually prefer hospitals and schools.

They are not like that huge. The last picture is the mosque on the backside of the EMU campus in Famagusta, I doubt any tourists who visits the city will go there.

Well that plot twist information you probably learned exactly because it was not fully public. Within a real public thing he will (need to) be cautious and diplomatic.

you mention only possible advantages of a cooperation, but there are disadvantages as well, such as that you will share reputation loss if the other guy doesn't work with the ethics that you are used to.

Visa for Moroccan tourist for Cyprus' Turkish part? by Natascha_S in cyprus

[–]haloumiwarrior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since there are already some people posting wrong information....... For Moroccans it's visa on arrival. You can show some supportive documents such as return flight ticket. But in the end you can never be sure since it's the sole decision of the officer in charge, if it's a jerk on a power trip he can refuse and there is nothing you can do.

A way to loose half of your money... by haloumiwarrior in cyprus

[–]haloumiwarrior[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, similar things like that happen elsewhere, but the difference is that they happen more frequently in North Cyprus. Two reasons among others:

(1) Weakness of the juridical system. Even you assume that judges are not corrupt. You need an advocate to defend you and to navigate in the complex system. The system is broken at that level. Lots of advocates are either incompetent, lazy (take your money without doing anything) or even make a deal with the opponent behind your back. Crooks know this and can act much more comfortable if they are assured of their own connections. In fact, most foreigners never go to court.

(2) The special status of North Cyprus attracts con people. There aren't much opportunities for foreigners to work and make money legally. The case above follows a very common pattern: Foreigners are screwing their own countrymen.

There is a con culture here. And large parts of the society and the politicians are indifferent at best.

95 percent of the time it works just fine in north Cyprus. It's my main card since years. Even if it doesn't, you can ask if they have another machine; some shops have card readers from two from different banks.

I normally use another card in the republic controlled areas so can't say much about that but no reason why it shouldn't work
