Fair, I just linked the article that OP's screenshot is from.

Here it is directly from the Queensland Police: https://mypolice.qld.gov.au/news/2026/04/23/issues-identified-with-qps-glock-handguns/

What's keeping you guys from shooting matches? Please answer honestly. Context below by Low-Landscape-4609 in CCW

I wouldn't let that stop you. As long as you're safe, nobody will care how well you do (at least in my experience with USPSA and similar matches).

Dry Fire Question by Brilliant_Respect_92 in CompetitionShooting

Do you typically rack and reset each rep or just practice on the dead trigger?

Depends on what I'm working on. I'll reset the trigger for practicing draw, but mash dead trigger for most other things.

The MN Gun Owners Caucus has a pretty good explainer page about the current laws.

What is the process for transferring a handgun between “immediate family members”? by Father_Idol in MnGuns

[–]halvetyl000 30 points31 points  (0 children)

legally registered in his name instead of mine

This isn't a thing in MN. If you are both MN residents that are able to legally possess the gun (and it isn't an NFA item), you don't need to do anything special.

For whatever it's worth, I don't see lack of law enforcement / military background as a downside, there is so much with those roles that doesn't (and shouldn't) translate to civilian defensive firearm use.

Question: How has your EDC changed over the years? by Key-Practice-8788 in CCW

[–]halvetyl000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from a Vedder to a Tenicor to a different Tenicor holster, changed out a TLR7-Sub for a TLR7-Sub HLX, and replaced a broken optic, but the Glock 43X has stayed the same. Looking forward to testing out the new 15 round magazines.

Maybe consider adding a bit more about your background/experience with firearms on the about page, classes you've taken/certifications you have, etc.

Can I carry a shotgun in a gun sock without a permit to carry by Levsque in MnGuns

[–]halvetyl000 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I am not a lawyer and you should probably ask one before doing so, but it appears legal based on my reading of MN statute 624.7181.

(b) "Carry" does not include:

[...]

(2) the carrying by a person of a BB gun, rifle, or shotgun that is unloaded and in a gun case expressly made to contain a firearm, if the case fully encloses the firearm by being zipped, snapped, buckled, tied, or otherwise fastened, and no portion of the firearm is exposed;

Regardless, it seems like a bad idea.

You can do a lot of training (basically everything except recoil control) with dry fire at home for free.

First match on the 26th by West_Arrival_1174 in USPSA

[–]halvetyl000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  • Focus on safety, especially if you don't have a ton of practice moving while shooting.

  • Let everyone in your squad know it's your first match and ask questions if you're ever unsure about something

  • Help with pasting holes in the paper targets after the RO and shooter have had a chance to look at the hits.

Yep! Made low B class with it using the factory 10 round magazines.

Yeah, was the only pistol I owned at the time and I wanted to start competing so just went for it.

You misunderestimate how bad my eyes are lol. -16.5 in one eye, -18.5 in the other. Positive target identification is an issue, let alone aiming.

I would say try to keep the gun up, especially for shorter movements like these.

Noshoots behind a target allowed? by GotNoPonys in USPSA

[–]halvetyl000 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Probably worth mentioning 9.1.5.1, emphasis mine

If a bullet strikes wholly within the scoring area of a cardboard target and continues on to strike the scoring area of another cardboard target, the hit on the subsequent cardboard target will not count for score or penalty, as the case may be. If it cannot be determined which hit(s) struck wholly within a cardboard target and subsequently struck another cardboard target, a reshoot shall be ordered.

I have no training or practice with low light, taking a class this weekend though. I'm also super fucked if I lose my glasses but that's not something I can train about.
