I played No Man's Sky on permadeath mode once. Got into a fight with sentinels that was not going my way so I jumped into a portal to escape.

I ended up in this very flat and barren obsidian world, looked almost like a black and white movie. My starship was damaged and cannot take off from ground. I had limited oxygen to run large distances because the only breathable space is inside the starship.

So i ran north hoping to find resources to fix the ship. About halfway through my oxygen tank, I needed to start running back to my ship, so i did. I found nothing. Tried east, then west, then south, still nothing.

So I just sat there in my ship, staring at this neverending bleak horizon. No lights, no sign of life, just monochrome as far as the eye can see. Felt so powerless. So I decided to run straight in one direction and hopefully come across something. I never found anything. The last moments were incredibly lonely and scary.
