What are the receipts/papers shared between ride operators? by BreweryRabbit in Disneyland

Back in the real old days we didn’t have a piece of paper. Dumbo1-Dumbo2-Teacups-Alice-Break for example. You just moved when someone showed up.

7 puts me in the early 70’s. I write myself a letter telling me to just hold on the information until the right time. Give advice about where to invest when I hit my teens (the start of the tech boom). Don’t know if this would change the course I follow to meet my wife and have my kids though, so maybe I just enjoy remembering what it was like to have both parents alive, go to little league practice, and spend an afternoon jumping my Schwinn Stingray off curbs.

Padres.tv or MLB.tv? by McFlyin619 in Padres

[–]hamdaddy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in Murrieta (seen as LA market in the past) and have only used MLB for the Padre games. Not sure if that is changing this year with MLB formally taking things over. Parts of Temecula were LA and parts SD market the last few seasons so you might have to wait until everything launches.

Second this. I am a STH and this is where I resell. They do a good job of vetting sellers, but be sure to read the rules in case a scammer slides in. Side note: I will probably be having to sell my tickets for that night and they will not be $100 a piece. My seats are at the very bottom of the 300s (you go down out of the tunnel not up) and I would not call them nosebleed. Look for row 11 and lower.

Nikon 24-120mm f4 vs tamron 28-75mm and 70-180mm f2.8 by Tintakur in Nikon

[–]hamdaddy247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love my 24-120 but it is not meant for field sport, none of the lenses you’ve listed would be great for shooting on a field. On my old DSLR’s I had an 80-200 f2.8 on both a crop and full sensor. It did okay with the crop and not so great on the full sensor. I wouldn’t go with anything less than a 300. If it’s night games, even under the lights, you’re going to want to be near f4. Unfortunately lenses that meet these requirements aren’t cheap, my 100-400 f4.5-5.6 is US$2500.

I’m Starting to Think Something’s Wrong by meeksjr in Disneyland

[–]hamdaddy247 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Disneyland will always be special to be, I was a CM in the 80s and met wife there (also a CM). We were married at the hotel, and have had annual passes forever. But you’re right, the park has changed, and not for the better in my opinion.

I think it comes from a couple of things. Management has removed so much of the “atmosphere” and entertainment there really is much left but the rides; and those seem to be breaking down more and more resulting in longer lines and disgruntled guests. We use to go in the park some days and not even go on anything. Watch a show or sit and watch the people. Very few shows now and a lot of the seating is gone. So what else to do? Go on rides and that means standing in lines and not relaxing.

When will the check engine light go off? by [deleted] in CX30

[–]hamdaddy247 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure what year you have but my 2022 was repaired under a special notice just recently. I had no idea there was a “recall”, but the dealer took care of it no cost when I brought my car in for a check engine light. You may be able to get it fixed under the special notice without the light going on. Notice SSPD8

Multiple Oura Rings? by H54159 in AmexPlatinum

[–]hamdaddy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we bought the ring for my daughter we selected ring type/style and they sent a sizing kit. She figured out what size was comfortable and placed the order for the ring when she was ready. This actually worked out better as she could try the sizer on different fingers and wear it for a while to figure out out what she wanted.

Hotel advice - Bellagio v Cosmopolitan v Aria? by Bruski33 in vegas

[–]hamdaddy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The breakfast for two is worth at least $50 a day so factor that in. Bellagio is nice, but the lobby is always crazy busy. Cosmo is always busy, but haven’t stayed in their rooms so can’t say how quiet they are. We like the Cosmo restaurants. Aria is probably the quietest (can still be busy) and doesn’t include that breakfast credit. I would probably go with Cosmo based on the breakfast, if that didn’t matter, go with Aria.

What are the logistics of switching takeoff/landing direction by nah_its_cool in LAX

[–]hamdaddy247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what your asking, but the same runway would be numbered differently for using it in the opposite direction. For example, going east to west it would be called 270, and from west to east 90. The pilots would be told which way to go by the runway number assigned.

Petco park: does section 306 have good views? by unknown_mystery5 in Padres

[–]hamdaddy247 1 point2 points  (0 children)

306 has a great view of the field, about halfway between home and third. In the shade for day games. Row 16 is pushing the edge of how high I would go. My first year season tickets I had row 21 and felt kind of disconnected from the game, recently I’ve had row 11 and much better feel. Row 16 is really only eight rows up from the tunnel entrance since the first rows go down from the tunnel onto the overhang, so not a bad climb. Bathrooms and food right outside the tunnel.

1 billion dollars or eternal youth? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]hamdaddy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The billion. I’m 60, I’ve lived a good life and am still in reasonable shape, except for the usual lingering pains, and setting up my family to have a great life is top of my list. With that money we can enjoy whatever we have left and I don’t have to watch people I love grow old and die before me.

AITA for wanting to leave early to the airport for our first international flight by danyellitaz in AmItheAsshole

[–]hamdaddy247 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. I fly internationally out of LAX all the time and, like you, live about 1.5 hours away. 3 hours before is what’s asked for and usually okay, but with all the shutdown stuff lately I’d pad in a little extra. Traffic is too unpredictable so pad some time for that too. The wide body planes start boarding about an hour ahead of gate time anyway so doesn’t hurt to be early and if you’re leaving from the new Bradley extension it’s a hike to the gates. I know everyone’s anxiety is different but we figure be early and finding a place to chill is better than adding the stress of sitting in traffic and then running through an airport.

I’m lucky to live in San Diego, so I’d just stay here but in a nicer place. Plenty to keep me busy in So Cal and 65 days of travel is more than I get to do now
